Have you tried goat's milk? How about Lactaid, which is cow's milk treated to be digestible for lactose intolerant people? The Lactaid is available in 1 litre cartons in the most grocery stores.

I had a niece who couldn't tolerate anything but something they called "pre-digested soya milk" (yuck!). Since it was a health issue with her and her parent's lived in northern B.C., the provincial health ministry would fly a month's supply up to their town, for the first 3 years of her life. After that she was old enough to undergo an operation that negated the problem for her.

Children don't need to drink milk, and definitely should not be drinking soda pop.

Definitely avoid cow's and goat's milk, because aside from lactose intolerance or casein intolerance, as your daughter seems to have, these milks with leach calcium from her bones. There is a popular myth that dairy products are a good source of calcium which makes parents worry overly much about including them in a child's diet.

Try giving her other calcium sources, like sesame seeds (tahini on a quarter slice of bread is a nice snack), and keep in mind that your breast milk is still a decent source of calcium. Even at age 1.5, your daughter doesn't *need* anything other than your milk to consume all of the nutrients she needs, which is not to say that now isn't a good time to give her a variety of foods and set the groundwork for a healthy diet when she is older.

Do you have a health food or natural food store nearby? Here are my suggestions:
1) Try kefir. It is a milk fermented with lactobacilus like in yogurt. It may help your daughter do better with dairy foods.
2) Try goat's milk. It is very nourishing. Lots of people, especially babies, who can't tolerate cow's milk, can drink goat milk.
3) Don't give her more than her body can stand of cow or soy milk.
4) How about plain, unflavored, unsweetened
yogurt?
5) Maybe if you rotate between some or all of the above she'll do better.

I am guessing that she is otherwise healthy and happy.

How about formula? Can she still drink that with out the diarrhea? She's still young enough that that may be a fine choice.

I would talk with her doctor. If she doesn't tolerate milk then that's ok. Children do need to drink milk, but as you get older you really don't need it. If she can tolerate milk products make sure she has some cheese or yogurt. Dark leafy vegetables are good sources of calcium. You might try pediasure, but if she doesn't tolerate milk or soy, she probably won't tolerate that either. Look for orange juice that is fortifiesd with calcium.

100% juices and water. Water is the healthiest obviously. Cows milk is not that great for anyone and it sound like she might have an issue with soy. Nutrients should come from solid foods at this point and you can supplement with juices that have added Calcium and Vitamin C.

Try Pediasure. It has all the nutrients she needs and shouldn't upset her digestion like milk. Milk is full of additives and hormones given to the cows so they can produce more. These additives can cause allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to them. If she can't tolerate milk products, try juice, or just plain water. You should NEVER give a child your daughters age pop!!!

My daughter beverages soy milk (no longer an entire glass, in simple terms whilst she beverages from our glasses) and he or she loves it. We now no longer (for the final few months) drink any cows milk simply by fact my spouse is having abdomen problems with it. We now drink Silk Soy Vanilla (that's the only one available in bulk right here the place we live) and we like it even greater desirable than the Skim milk that we used to drink. Calves drink milk, nad are weaned. toddlers drink breast milk and are weaned. you do no longer see a cow going to drink another animals milk after weaning. Thats all beside the factor. something which you're listening to undesirable approximately soy milk merits to be regarded at, as those are your infants which you're feeding it to, yet do no longer bypass loopy without thinking each and every of the information. reliable wellness to you. Do not give her soda!!
It will ruin teeth that she doesn't even have yet!!
How about calcium fortified juices, in moderation because they have a lot of sugar too.
Give her other dairy products(1 at a time) like yogurt, cheese, and homemade pudding to see if she is truely lactose intolerant.
Keep the communication w/ the doc going to try to get to the bottom of it all.
Good luck!!

Try the lactose free milk. The diarrhea is a sign of lactose intolerance.
