Some times it goes both ways. Some couples go together and pick out rings, and in most traditional ways the guy will buy the girl the ring and she will purchase his ring. (make sure you know his ring size because my wife forgot mine and we had to use someone Else's). it was huge! and it fell off of my finger.

P.S. You don't have to buy the most expensive ring, just a nice one that would match your engagement ring so that you guys will be unified.
I hope that this helped.

Take care & and have a great wedding.

If you're talking about who buys the engagement ring, the man usually buys the woman's ring and he doesn't wear one. If the woman proposes, she can give him any gift of her choice. It doesn't have to be a ring since not all men are into rings and some have dangerous occupations where they could easily lose a finger, hand or entire arm if they wear any jewelry on the job.

If these are the wedding rings, not the engagement ring, then it's usually a joint purchase.

Typically in an engagement the man only buys the girl a ring and then he would ask her in a romantic way to marry her. Usually the guy does not get a ring (unless, the couple decides too)

I would say that whoever asks the other person to marry them should buy the engagement ring (if the woman proposes, buy the wedding band and he can wear it on the ring finger until the wedding and then move it to the left - like the Europeans do). The wedding rings are usually thought of as part of the wedding expenses so in this day and age you would probably split the cost.

If you want to be traditional about it, I would say that you each buy the other person's ring(s).

The man would purchase the engagement ring. Both of them purchase wedding bands for each other at the ceremony.

Hope this helps.

If it is the man proposing, then he only needs to buy the engagement ring for the woman. Men don't typically wear engagement rings. When it comes to wedding rings, I am planning on buying my fiancees' ring, and he is planning on buying mine.

Never heard of a guy getting an engagement ring. He buys her engagement ring and her wedding ring. She buys his wedding ring.

My husband purchased both (though I think our money was mixed already) because he had the engagement ring designed to fit a wedding band and his was a match to it.

I'm a bit of a tradionalist so I think that the man should buy the ring for the woman and not have a ring himself until they get married.

If he prososes then he buys her engagement ring and vice versa. As for the wedding bands, whatever goes! My husband bought his and I bought mine!
