JESUS!!! enough already... i've got my own... it was just a hypothetical question, and your right, my network card already detects whenever i'm near a wireless router for access. I use AirSnare to keep anyone from intruding on my network. In a nutshell... unethical: yes, classy: no, already have: yes, why: i wanted to pull a prank... and the neighbor is my nephew... SORRY for getting everyones's knickers in a knot !

You don't need a program to do that, you just need a wireless card in your computer. If the neighbor doesn't have their network password protected, you will be in.

As a quick reference, this table shows the default addresses, usernames, and passwords for some common router manufacturers.

Internet Explorer will show your router's configuration page. Most of the default settings should be fine, but you should configure three things:

1. Your wireless network name, known as the SSID. This name identifies your network. You should choose something unique that none of your neighbors will be using.

2. Wireless encryption (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), which help protect your wireless network. For most routers, you will provide a passphrase that your router uses to generate several keys. Make sure your passphrase is unique and long (you don't need to memorize it).

3. Your administrative password, which controls your wireless network. Just like any other password, it should not be a word that you can find in the dictionary, and it should be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Be sure you can remember this password, because you'll need it if you ever have to change your router's settings

Oh so you're just going to be like a thief in the night huh? Why are people always trying to have something for nothing? I am so sure that you can afford wireless Internet. The companies that sells that stuff has so many bargains going on right now because they're all competing against each other. "So go ahead---pick up the telephone and call you local cable or DSL company and compare prices"!

well although "probably" not legal, I am sure it can be done if you somehow knock on his door and ask the woman of the house if it would be ok to use a double splice to both the cable modem for TV and inrternet. You of course will have to mow her lawn and shovel her snow for free. If she needs any of your other services she is not getting enough of you may be asked to do that as well. You know, it just may be worth your while to just get your own, but I guess that would take all the fun out of it for you. It is sort of like crashing a party, only to find out it is a gay party and you are the only straight man there. You got in but what did you get into.
Good luck BoyToy!

Hacking into someones wireless network is a crime, known as "theft of services". It can place you at risk of a civil law suit from the owner of the network, and criminal charges by their ISP.

Thas a bit cheeky get your own - as for hacking it they would probably have a password set up so its virtually impossible - If you live near a sainsburys you may be able to pick theirs up =)
