One of my mom's birds died this morning. She only had them for about a year. How many years do they live? And she looked healthy till last night and my mom woke up in the morning and saw that she wasn't breathing anymore.

Also, she shared a cage with a very agressive male bird who used to peck at her at times and my mom would separate them for a bit, but they still wanted to be together. Do you think maybe the other bird killed her?

they should live from 5 to 15 yrs depanding on thier health. They are very delicate birds, some more than others. There are many things people do not think about that can kill them.
Things that are deadly to birds:
Colds(they can catch them from humans so stay away if you are sick)
Drafts(cool breazes caused by widows even when shut)
Unfresh water(fresh water should be given about 2-3 times aday)
Use of perches not treated to be safe for birds( never use branches from outside)
Plants(many plants are poisonus to birds)
Chilled or over heated( birds need to have thier surroundings around 72-76 degrees. They can get sick easily if they are cold and some suffer from heat exhaustion) You can purchase heat lamps for them if you can't keep your house warm enough, research this before you do it. you can also keep a cover on the bird at night to help keep it warm as well.
Teflon/non-stick pans (when heated they emit toxic fumes that are not good for even humans but can be fatal to birds)

Also to insure they live a long healthy life, you shoud try to get them on a pellet diet, these are more nutritious. They also love fruit and vegtables. You can give them things like grapes, kiwi, carrots, peas, brocalli. you can purchase dried or you can get frozen and thaw it out in hot water if you can't get it fresh all the time. Its' good to give them this once a day, always be sure to limit the amount of fruit you give them as too much can give them diarrea.
Bird talk magazine has some awsome info in it, you can get it at a petstore.
I hope this helps
Good luck

My mom's budgie lived to be 13, so they live quite a while. You would know if the aggressive bird killed her, because there would be marks on her body.

Unless the stress of being with an aggressive bird killed her, which I suppose is possible.

I have a budgie also and they can live up to 15 years. The bird must have had some type of disease. If you want to keep your other birds healthy, then take them to the vet incase they have the same disease as the one that died...
Good luck!

If well looked after then 5 years sometime longer. But budgies are tiny little birds and if they get poorly can die very suddenly.
Give them :
Salad Cress - Peas - Apple - Celery - Courgette - Sweetcorn - Watercress - Boiled Rice - Parsley Sprig - Grapes - Cucumber - Dandelion Leaves - Broccoli - Broard Beans - Carrott - Finger of bread soaked in water - Mashed Boiled Egg (shell also) - Tomatoes - Lettuce - Cooked Pasta - Radishes (leaves also)
and things like these but NOT cabbage. (Cabbage is very bad for them).
