Many of them are simply hoping and waiting for their "rewards" in heaven, therefore this life is not the focus of their endeavors. lt is annoying and insane from my perspective. The religions that follow the babble are particulary insidious at causing mass ignorance in their followers. Sheep, parrots and good little worker bees to contribute with out complaint. Religion is big business and the only industry where the consumers never complain when the product is not delievered.

Your foolish attempt to concur a cause effect relationship between the two is noted & I am only answering for those who may want a real answer to this quesiton. Just because someone "knows" the bible and has an ability to recite passages doesn't imply that they are willing or able to abide by such passages. If one adheres to the Gody principles in the Bible then they will indeed reap the benefits of a blessed life.
My familys life is a living example in all areas. The one area I use as an open example is the life of a giver. We have always given God his tithing (meaning 1/10), even in the beginning of our marriage when it was difficult and often seemed impossible. We have watched our worldly wealth grow just as God said he would. We have never had to finance anything and never done without what pleased our heart.

It depends on how you are using the word "failure."
In the eyes of the world, Christ was a failure. He owned nothing. He spent his time wandering about and talking to people. He had no ambitions of power, money, prestige. His purpose was to save human souls--and if people didn't believe this, then they believed him to be an unemployed, impoverished trouble maker.
If the people you are judging as failures have "failed" with regard to accumulating lots of capital, go-getting in the workplace, and that sort of thing, then you may very well be misjudging them--judging them through the prideful lens of your own value system (if, indeed, you value such things).
If they have "failed" with regard to carrying the message of salvation, or by repeatedly engaging in sinful activities, that is a different story. If they do not practice what they say they believe, there is a whole host of possible reasons for this. One reason is that they may believe but not having active, living faith. Another reason is that they may be at the beginning stages of their transformation. Another reason is that they may have been tempted by God's enemy and have succumbed to the temptation. Because what Satan does is grant everyone's transient, useless wishes--for money, power, prestige, promotions at work, sex appeal, and so forth--and leaves them be. But if a person begins walking with Christ, Satan begins offering more. The devil works harder in the lives of the faithful--and sometimes he succeeds. Sometimes he offers temptations that people who began their walk with Christ fall prey to. ... Again, there is a whole host of possible reasons, and the selection here does not cover them all.
To answer your question about why people can recite passages of the Bible, it is because they have memorized them.

The answer lies in the word "parrot." It's a great word to use, because parrots don't require critical thinking abilities to well..."parrot" lol. Neither do the fanatics, they also highly resemble lemmings.

someone just asked a similar question about being too religious; and this would probably fit them to some degree. Evan though they may love God with all their heart, we all still have to live in this world and satisfy the needs of this world.
So they lack wisdom about what they need to do so they can be sucessful.

Because it is easier said than done.
Literacy fanatics just try to justify that they possess the knowledge but hardly try to use it for success in life (at least as trying to be good and generous human beings).
Cheers from Mexico!

The beauty of religious mania is that it has the power to explain everything. Once God (or Satan) is accepted as the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, nothing is left to chance...logic can be happily tossed out the window.

I do not lack intellect.
My income is above average, but not rich by any stretch.
But, I do NOT claim to have all of the answers.
I am a Christian. That is the answer for MY life.
What you believe/what you are is up to you. You are free to make your own choices as I have freely made mine.

Hey no one is perfect. We are forgiven. Not everyone chooses to have that close walk with Christ that can empower us to live in a way that does not cause us to be failures in every aspect of life. It takes a daily dying of self and seeking His will for our lives.
