Many satanist are actually atheists. They use Satan as a liberating symbol but do not even believe there is such a being.

People who worship Satan usually fall into one of three categories.

1. They want attention or just be rebellious against the norm.

2. They think that they will gain power from an evil force and they see Satan representing that force.

3. They are actually worshiping the flesh and the freedom to live a life full of carnal things. They just use Satan as a symbol of that concept of hedonistic lifestyle.

Most satanists don't worship the devil, they don't think that he or God exist. They believe in themselves and that each person are responsible for their own actions.

I guess some people consciously make the decision to worship satan, but I can't begin to understand why. Some people are deceived by seemingly harmless occult practices, and find themselves involved in satanic worship before they know what's happened.

15"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

YES THE PROMISE GIVEN TO THEM IS THIS IN REVELATION 20: 10 - 15

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Stupid question. If a Satanist didn't worship the devil, he wouldn't be a Satanist, then, would he?

Sure--just like Satan told Adam & Eve a lie-- that they would be as great as God--that's why God didn't want them to eat the apple. Satan will tell anybody--anything to get them to do what he wants. It all depends on you and if your choices are SELFISH or SELFLESS!
