Oh my gosh!! I was talking about this same situation with a friend last week. Me and my brothers would fight about who could get to the box of cereal first and get the prize. I have a 7yr old now and it sucks that they don't do that.

Some cereal boxes still come with prizes. My daughter will
look at the cereal boxes to find which one has a good prizes.
But those are the boxes that usually cost around 4 to 5 dollars.
I pick the good, but reasonable prices or on sale and those don't
come with a prize. I know what your talking about.

Kellog's still do it!!!!
I got yoga and pilates DVD on boxes of special K
A mini x-box video game in a box of Rice Krispie's
A Madagascar watch in another box of Rice Krispie's
General Mill's occasionaly do it
You can get a story book these days, I saw the commercial on TV yesterday!
My answer to this is that it seems like there are no prizes anymore because I don't buy cereals as frequently and don't eat as much as when I was a kid. A box can last me a few months so I more than likely miss out on many promotions!

There still are prizes in some cereals. But just wait --- some greedy lawyer will file a class action against cereal manufacturers, claiming the toys entice kids to eat the wrong stuff and get fat.

Heck yeah I remember that loved those prizes. Don't know why they don't do that anymore, but have noticed the prices of cereal has gone way up, for the prices we pay, there should be some prize in there for the kids.

Remember when Cracker Jacks had fun prizes inside? My friend has several and they are worth some $$$'s. I don't buy cereal now but I expect the things inside are nothing too special.

Whaaaattt? I haven't had cereal for a while so this is new to me.
Added detail:
Apparently, it's a safety issue. The size of the toys (choking hazard), some toys containing mercury and other toxic substances, etc.
And it's not lucrative anymore. They've resorted to much bigger prizes that require you to mail something, or call in to win a prize.

Yes, I remember that. And when the prize was too big for the box you had to send off for it.
I think the reason is, as for Cracker Jack prizes, was the age limitation. Kids under three were probably getting choked.

Yes, I do. I use to open the cereal on the bottom because that is where the prize was.

yes they do.... I've gotten cars and dvds lately....games and such but you are right there isn't as much prizes as there were when I was a kid.... I still eat that stuff... hey if you are looking for the prize cereals.... look in the middle to bottom of the shelf. They put them there so the kids can see them.
