Heres the link to the wikipedia definition so I am assuming people eat these things but I am just wondering what they are like? Do most people like these things after their first time trying them? Or is this one of them foods that people only eat because they are considered a "delicacy" although it tastes like what it looks like?

I just had my first this summer, when I went to the Philippines. You crack it open, suck out the juice which is somewhat tasty...sort of sweet/salty. Then inside is the duck fetus, which was starting grow hair and feathers. It just feels slimy in your mouth, and sort of bland taste. It's more about the texture than the taste. The bottom of the egg white is hard and chewy. Overall I didn't find it that tasty, but it wasn't nasty at all. My cousins only suck out the juice and then throw away the duck inside. No one ever told me it was a delicacy, it can be found on many street corners in the Philippines.

Balut is super delicious!! I've tasted not only once but many times. Thing is you have to close your eyes when you take a bite ,that way you don't see that little duckling inside the egg. You could feel the feathers though when you swallow.
