He's always been aggressive, but recently went deaf. I think he's getting lonely at home while I'm at work. He cries so pitifully it breaks my heart. I think I need to get him a friend. But he's so aggressive, like a pit bull cat or something. I'd appreciate any help.

He went deaf recently from anasthesia while getting his teeth cleaned. That part really sucks. I wish I could sue. He is not aggressive to humans, just other cats.

get a kitten perferably a girl so he doesnt have any dominace issues and then just moniter them you might need to keep the kitten in a room for the first week but then the other cat will get used to it and then become friends.

Teach him sign language.

Seriously, he is getting more aggressive because of the deafness. Try looking for a video called video catnip - that does entertain cats a little. Make sure he has a place where he can look out a window - even if you have to put up a shelf. He is probably more lonely now as, without the audio input, life is even more boring plus he knows he is missing something but probably doesn't know what.

You can get a plug in called "comfort zone" at any petstore. What this does is realeases a smell only cats can smell into the house that will help ease their stress and calm them down. I had to use it when one of my cats wouldn't stop urinating in the house due to stress and it worked within a day. He was also a more agressive cat and now he is awsome. Its not the cheapest but it is the best. If you are unsure go to a petsmart, they have an awsome return policy, so if it doesn't work for your cat you can take it back. This should help her relax when you are not home.
Another thing you could try is find a toy for her that she will really love and only give it to her when you are away.
Good luck.

Cat's don't just get that way... Either you wont leave him the hell alone (as cats like to be left alone) or someone smacked him and made him go deaf? (Not implying it was you either, you just never know if he is aggressive anyway someone could have thumped him?)

Aggression can also be caused by pain. What has the vet said? Could the condition be as a result of something actually hurting him in his ears? Like a tumor? a growth caused by letting ear mites go too long untreated?

* Oh, well why didn't you say?

I dunno about that one. It's a shame. Bastard doctors! He is a cute little bugger too (If that's his picture on your avatar?). I have a seal point myself. His name is Pyewacket.

If he is aggressive toward other cats and you know it. I wouldn't suggest getting him another cat... unless you want to feed it to him to amuse him while you're gone?

Lol.....pitbull cat!!! That's hilarious.

My cat whines when I get home from work like crazy too. She keeps meowing until I play with her. I will stop playing, and then 5 minutes later she is whining again. I thought about getting nother cat as well, but I think she will get too jealous. I hope you get some good answers on this, because I need the same advice.

your cat looks SO pissed off in the pic. I'd suggest a dog. preferably a big one. another cat and your cat may kill it or seriously wound it from the looks ot if. a big dog on the other hand would be a nice play toy for your kitty while remaining fairly safe from your kittys aggressive onslaught. i think pit bull may be too much. they are considerably more aggressive than your cat so it may wind up killing it too in the process. something like a german shepard or big retreiver or something like that?

He sounds like he does need a friend, especially now. all cats don't like other animals at first usually, but with a little time they will like each other. If you do get another pet be sure that you take some time off so you can get them both used to each other and the new pet used to you and new home.

I had issues with a cat I had years ago, and my vet put him on meds. Wish I could remember more, but I know he attacked me pretty good. Talk to your vet. They deal with these problems all the time and will hopefully be able to help you. Good Luck! :)

I think you should try to spend as much time as u can with him. Then as for a companion, maybe u should try another cat, he might like an aggresive one.

Hi! Try FELIWAY, that's pheromones to relax cats (in France you can find it in a pharmacy or chemistry) and DON'T take a other cat, it would be worst!
