I have recently become very depressed because i found out that i have a meloncholic temperament. Meloncholics are said to be depressed, anxious, neurotic, homely, sickly, feeble and cowardly. I hate being labled by those words. I want so much to be a powerful choleric or a happy sanguine. I have been told that i have a moderate amount of choleric and a tiny bit of sanguine in me. Can someone please tell me how i can harness those powers so they are stronger then the meloncholy one. I don't want to go through life being a depressed, ugly, wimpy loser. I am really beginning to dislike myself because im meloncholic.

I think we cannot change our temperament, but we CAN regulate it. Think of your diagnoses this way: now you know what you need to focus your energy towards! Think of it as a blessing in disguise. You know your weaknesses better than most people - you have a "heads up" in the matters of your persona. You can make a conscious effort to stay away from things that trigger your less than desirable characteristics, while gravitating towards things that bring the better temperament about! Read like crazy on people like yourself and how they overcame these issues.

It's all in how you use the information that is given to you.

When I think of temperment I think of being hot headed like myself. I don't see that having anything to do with wether your depressed or not. Its very hard to change that disposition just speaking from experience. Try self help books and meditation.

Most people REACT, while the Spiritual Warrior learns to ACT.
When someone is angry, they send real spiritual energies at us. That creates a sympathetic reaction, in that we send energies
back. That only causes us to LOSE power.
Therefore, the Warrior acts, by not acting. Staying calm, cool,
and collected.Thereby retaining his power should he need it to defend himself.
