a good rule of thumb is a dollar is worth half as much as a pound- this is not exact but very easy to use when not at a computer accessing an exchange site

1.875 on xe.com, but you will never get that rate. The best rates are generally to be found at cash machines (ATMs). Just yesterday, I got about $1.90 per pound using my ATM card.
Just beware of extra fees that your bank may charge for international ATM withdrawals. I have Bank of America, and they let you withdraw from Barclay's cash machines for free.

1.00 UK-Pound= $1.90
When exchanged in U.S.
But when you exchange your $ for UK Pound
in the U.K.
the pound will be more expensive for the $
the exchange will be 1.00 UK Pound= $2.00
the best place to exchange ur $ will be in a post office (they have the best rates)
- Hope dis helps!
