I must falsely be under the impression that this forum was designed as a place to ask questions and received responses. Sort of a nice, easy way to exchange ideas and knowledge. It started off as a great idea....but has devolved (see, evolution works both ways...)
Im appalled at what Ive come to conclude - that no one here is really interested in learning anything - they are only interested in receiving gratification and solace in knowing that you are not the only one who beleives what you beleive. It is truly sad....
Initially, I came to the R&S section in hopes of learning exactly why people maintain beliefs systems. I still havent learned why.... Ive also noted that, rather than ask a serious question with the intention of actually learning something, Xtians simply make a statment and then profess their beleifs.....
How can any of us expect to learn something from this question and answer period, when we waste our time spewing dogma?

U know what I think ur right. I had the same problem with in the cats section, with people telling me i am an irresponsible pet owner and should be ashamed of myself for being a professional cat breeder, when there are so many homeless cats in the world, and I was only asking about a good place to have my cat and kittens fixed.
So I feel ur frustration.
I looked at one of ur previous questions and I also was surprised by the negative and some even insulting comments people left you when you just wanted an answer to ur question.
I don't think there is anything wrong with listening to another person's opinion. That is after all how we learn new things!
As christians it is wrong to persecute a person because of there beliefs, no matter how diffrent they are. I can see how they were trying to get their points across but some of the people did seem pretty angry for no reason and pretty hypocyital And as a christian woman, I apologize for some of their responses. I can see how evolution is a very confusing subject.
But the thing about Christianity (if you chose to except it) is we really don't know anything for sure. That's how God made it.
I'm not sure what you want to learn or if you are in the least interested in Christianity. I am a person who I asked a lot of questions and wanted explanations, never getting those answers I did my own think, basically lost total faith in God.
I hope you can maybe find a place in your heart for the lord but if not, I still wish you the best

I can fully understand what you are saying and some days it isn't worth sitting here on YA because there doesn't seem to be a sensible person on line. But I have found that there is much wisdom and insight here but first of all the questions need to be sensible one, some just invite criticism and mockery. Also the first few answers aren't worth looking at, the ones that count are when people take the time to think, look up sources, and write objective answers.

i couldn't have said it better myself, dear friend. i haven't been coming here that long and i have noticed the same. i admit i have asked some rediculous questions myself, but they were just for laughs. with the more serious ones i didn't get a lot of serious thought from most people. it is truly sad. :-(
i would never try to change one's beliefs, i only ask that they think with an open mind.
maybe some of us should start our own forum! :-)

I agree that the way atheists act sometimes is unwarranted. i don't think of favorably of religion frequently, yet I do attempt to handle human beings as persons. i don't accept as true with the implication that no person is swayed via the communicate that is going at here. I stand as residing data that communicate between theists and atheists can certainly start up a skill of discovery and alter in one's worldview. no you may convert yet somebody else, of direction - that they'd desire to do themselves. however the communicate that is going on provides them the innovations and the prospect to transform/deconvert in the event that they so pick.

It is a good place to fight with people that view the world differently than you do. Even when you give an honest answer to the occasional honest question, it generates hate.
Welcome to the Hate & Intolerance section

For once I agree with fireball. There's a lot to learn in this forum. You just have to find the right questions and answers. They're out there if you look, and there are some fine ones posted everyday.

aye. we both started at about the same times. i know exactly what you mean.
honestly, I've invested too much time into this to give it up. I'm sucked in.
There are some people who still want answers and I give them answers.
And besides..it's not like I'm going to actually do my work or anything..

IMO........Yahoo is clearly anti God and in particular anti Christian... this "forum" is designed to encourage the spread of the anti- God / anti-Christian message.
