I really wanted one too. After I got it I liked it for about a week. Then I hated it. It rode OK, but when you were going down the road the noise from the wind coming in from around the doors was so loud I couldn't hear the radio. During the winter I had to leave the heat on high and even then the only thing that stayed warm was my right foot, actually it was very hot and the rest of me was freezing! Everyone is different though. You might love a Jeep. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Depends on what you want it for. Mine is a second vehicle and is a lot of fun. Yes they can ride rough and be noisy but it is a Jeep not a damn Cadillac. I am in Florida so cold weather is not an issue and you can't beat the top down fun. They are great off-road and there are an endless amount of modifications and accessories available. It is not the best choice for a daily driver to some people, but I know people who drive them everyday with no problems. Find a friend who has one and ride around for a while and see what you think. Good luck.

If you're looking at a new TJ they are everythig good that you've heard and they are also everything bad that you've heard.

It comes down to what you want the Jeep for. If it's just a daily driver / grocery getter, never to be off-roaded but nice to be 4WD in winter, convertible in the summer only and top up on rainy or even cloudy days, you'll probably hate it after a year.

If you plan to off-road it, understand the interior won't get hurt in the rain, understand that wind noise is just an excuse to put the radio louder, plan to spend winter days praying for blizzards, knowing that mud is beautiful, you'll never go through life without at least having one in your garage.

You must understand that The Jeep is one of the greatest cultural icons in the world. There is no country that hasn't had a jeep drive through it, and it is always recognised as one. Nearly all jeepers stick together weather your driving an MB right up the a new Unlimited. As they pass the Jeep Wave happens.

It's a Jeep thing, to own one is to understand.

I had one and i LOVED it loved it loved it! It got broken into one too many times though and i started to hate it hate it hate it - lol!

It was the best car though - oh i miss it. Let's see - i never got tired of driving it - it's a car - they all pretty much drive the same (for the most part) - it was fun the entire time - it wasn't loud - the new wranglers (i had gotten mine in 95 when the 'new rounded headlights" came out) were insulated better and in 11 years, i'm sure they've come ever farther. It sucked on gas, but i knew that going into it and it didn't bother me - i think it's the most un-aerodynamic vehicle made! It held it's value very very nicely too. Mine never leaked, like i said, the only problem i had with mine was that it just kept getting broken into - i never kept anything in it, but it was making me feel unsafe. I still miss it to this day! Go get one - you'll enjoy it! I wanted one from the day i was about 6 and was very happy to have owned one - i saw the four-door one and actually want another! :)

I had a 99 Wrangler Sahara- great vehicle- but by all means, get the dual top option. It is a loud one, but SO much fun in the summer with the soft top. I used the hard top during winter, never had any heat issues. Also never had any mechanical problems to speak of.

You get the vehicle you want - gas mileage doesn't matter unless you are on a tight budget. Jeeps ain't cheap.

Someone mentioned not to buy one b/c of cold winters, bull pucky - get one with a hardtop or wear more layers!! Dugh!!

If you're looking for wheelin fun - it doesn't matter since you're gonna replace just about everything after ya beat on it. :)

Proud owner of 98 Wrangler - Hardtop w/air conditioning & enjoy rock crawlin, trailin & mud bogg's!!

If you have a soft top, Yes they are loud, and cold in the winter. I LOVE my Jeep!. Just got bigger tires and a lift put on it, and it rides rougher than crap, and I bounce all over the seat, but nothing will keep me from getting rid of it. And yes they are very fun
