Apple Crisp III
"Dutch Oven Apple Crisp"
Original recipe yield: 1 quart crisp.
Servings:8 (change)

INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups Macintosh apples - peeled, cored and quartered
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Combine apples and brown sugar in a large Dutch oven.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Combine milk, flour, and oats. Pour mixture over apples and brown sugar.
Bake for 1 hour. Serve.

Have you tried using Honey Crisp apples? They are the best. Did you know that they were developed at the University of Minnesota a few years back? I highly recommend them. They just came out for the season.

depends on what u want for your crisp. if u want crisp apples, go for a very firm apple, like a granny smith (they hold up very well to baking) If u want a softer crisp then use a less firm apple, like a fuji, or gala apple. they aren't as firm and get softer faster in the oven. it all depends on what u like!!!

All though Granny Smith are my first and only choice you can use any apple classified as a baking apple.
