What's going on at your school?
It's autumn, so football ought to be in full swing. What about profiling some of the players -- maybe "unsung heroes" like the tackles, rather than going for the obvious star quarterback.
Were there cheerleading tryouts; who makes up the cheerleading squad? Do mini-biographies of each (like favorite school subject, best hangout, last or favorite book read, comfort food, would never be caught dead in what color, music currently in their MP3 and/or CD player)
Any new teachers? Introduce them to your readers.
Any "issues" on campus or in the area (like recycling or parking problems)?
Pick a topic/issue (like raising/ lowering the driving, drinking age, voting in local or federal elections) and poll people on campus from all classes, faculty and auxiliary staff (like the janitor or school nurse).
Remember journalism answers five questions: who, what, when, where and how? You can apply those to anything! Keep your eyes and ears open; you'll find tons of stuff.
You can write editorials (about a particular subject, for example, healthy school food) and opinion pieces which should be labeled as such. News stories must be factual, quotes need to be attributed and it's important to try and get both (or all) sides on a story.
Good luck!

Nothing. And no, I am not being glib. We live in an increasingly shallow society, and something needs to be done about that or we are doomed. Motivate today's youth, but start at the reference point of nothing, cuz that's were it's all headed to if something doesn't happen soon, right?
