I'm going to face my abusive father and hope I don't fall. If I do, I hope I die. I can't live in the shadows all the time, afraid of him.
Is this a smart move? I don't know what else to do.

Stand up to him and refuse to oblige. Let him understand that you are an individual with rights.

Standing up for our rights is a very difficult & brave thing to do. Standing up for our rights against a parent is an even braver thing to do, & it's the smart thing to do.
I hope that you are not trying to do this alone. You deserve all of the support that you can get. It will still take a lot of guts but with support you can also gain some resolve.

My prayers are with you as that is a family situation here. Stand up for your self, but the most important thing for you to do is to go on with your life. Do not let the past haunt you every day as you may turn out cold and angry, I know cause my son in Iraq is that way now.

You didn't mention what kind of abuse, how long it has been going on, or, if he is abusive to anyone else.
You also did not mention your age, what precipitates the abuse, why you think he does what he does and exactly what you are going to do or say when you face your father.
A lot of dynamics going on here...and it would be helpful for us to give you better advice & support with more information.

Don't do it alone. I would call the police to arrest him. There's no point in facing him. You're only addressing the symptoms, not fixing the problem. Have him taken to jail and that will fix your problems.
