Call your local salvation army or other charitable organization and see if they might have some folks around who fix things and give them to those who need them.
Your old tv is more than a lot of folks have! Also, try a TV repair shop and see if they would be willing to fix it for free to donate so you both get a tax break.

Sometimes it's just junk. If it has no remote that tells me it's very old. You can try calling Goodwill or Salvation Army but they may not even want it. My friends had a perfectly fine couch and love seat she wanted to donate and they told her she'd have to pay to have it cleaned first. Despite the fact that most of the stuff they have in those stores is junk they don't want actual junk.
You can put it out with a sign that says "free". Some dumb donkey will take it away.

Most areas won't take TVs for trash, they have too much lead in them. I had a hard time getting rid of my old set, Finally I had to donate it goodwill after hours. Our goodwill is picky sometimes because it costs them money to dispose of stuff properly. Now, in CA anyways, you must take all electronics, and even batteries to the hazardous waste collection area where they collect old motor oil and paint.

Since the tv still works, give it to the Salvation Army or some other charity. Most will pick it up for free. call them.
Someone who can't buy a new one would love to have it!
Good Luck

Sounds as if a bum wouldn't even want that television. I'd put it out at the end of your driveway to see if the garbageman will take it...most likely they won't. Your best bet is to throw it in a local dumpster. If you really would like to keep it, maybe you can gut it out and use it as a cooler.

Do not just put it at end of your drive with notice that's says FREE , it will stay there for weeks however if you put a $50.00 price tag on it you can be sure that it will be stolen before you are back in your house !!

you can donate it, sent it off to good will, try and sell it or give it away at a garage sale or even drop it off at a college campus to see if some students wants it.
Nice you to try and think of other uses for it other than just junking it!
