Try meditation techniques before going to sleep. Start off with some light stretching and then get under the covers. Lying on your back, get into the most comfortable position you can and focus on your breathing. Watch you chest rise and fall, like the wings of a butterfly (a visual you can use that helps). Take your time with these mind images. Next picture a basket, a big one that you can put all of your concerns and troubles into, get all of them into the basket. Now notice that above the basket a great hot air balloon is attached to it and it starts to lift off, watch it go up into the sky so high that it goes up and behind the moon. Allow those concerns and troubles to stay there, you can get them again tomorrow if you really want to.
Then imagine you are off in some beautiful place, where the sky has no clouds and the sun's light is just right. Perhaps a green hill that has soft grass, or a warm beach where the sand is very fine. Imagine yourself lying there, very comfortable and peaceful, until you finally fall asleep.

There are other techniques, I hope this at least gets you started. Look up meditative sleeping aids on the Internet. I would not recommend the use of drugs though, there is always a higher price to pay when you use them. They only add more trouble to your life.

a lot , few are there to try out,
read some books on your bed and definetly u will get sleep
listen to some very slow instrumental music at a low tune especially the indian sitar or santoor by pt ravi shankar and alike since there are ragas made for each hour of the day so ragas meant for nite wil definetly help in getting sleep.Pl avoid tea/coffee before going to sleep at lest 3hrs before. I dont recommend sleeping pils as they have their side effects and is not a healthy practice.Every healthy person needs 6to 7 hrs sleep and even if your work doesnt allow you to have sleep then defintely you have to reschudle your working so taht you can get a proper sleep whihc is very important for a healthy body.

The power of mind is often underestimated. I will share with you the secret. Intend what you want. Intend a restful sleep, and imagine yourself feeling well rested and rejuvinated in the morning. Really feel it. Believe it. Then make yourself a match to this believe by going to bed at a proper time, and thinking restful and peaceful thoughts when you get there. You'll be amazed when you do this.

Don't lay in bed and read or watch tv before bedtime. It could be that the waking up is a habit too. Try just lying there and count to 10 very slowly and breathe very deep while counting. I think it's like our dog, he wakes up during the night wanting to go out, only to just run around the house and come right back in. It's not the he needs to go out, he is just in a habit of waking up at that same time every night, same with you. Not sure how to break that habit except by trying the breathing thing when you do wake up.

Ambien Cr.
Also check out your mattress.
Sounds like your mind is in high gear and body brakes are smoking.

Relax.
Get a physical.
If you have a busy schedule you surely should be tired enough to sleep 8 or 9 hours.

Make sure your bedroom is conducive to sleeping. Keep it dark and comfortable, don't read or study in bed. Or watch television. Train your body that the bedroom is for sleeping (and other things if you are lucky). The right mattress and pillow are also important factors. If you awake during the night, don't get out of bed. Stay there and do relaxation exercises until you fall asleep again.
Good luck!

There are several methods:

Do not watch TV 1/2 hour before you go to bed.

While in bed, concentrate as hard as you can about you doing something in your head. Ex: you are jogging on a trail, believing your are the main character to a story you are familiar with, your on a boat and you are listening to the waves hit the hull. (Same as counting sheep with a little more flavor)

Turn on a radio to white noise: no station, just static.

(I am not being a perv here.) "Take care of yourself" or have "relations" with your mate.

Do not chat on the Internet, do not exercise (actually wakes you up)

Cut back on coffee, or any caffeinated beverage if you drink it.

Take a hot shower/bath.

Good luck

Try exercising a few hours before bed. or just relax take a hot shower, drink some camomilla tea, read a book. I also heard that eating turkey will make you sleepy because of the typtophen in it. Try listening to calming music so you aren't thinking about stressful things that happened during the day. I used to have insomnia really bad and these things helped sometimes.

Get a fan or some kind of steady noise. That is the only way I can go to sleep. And avoid excercising or eating 2 hrs before bedtime, that will keep you up too.

An hour before bed soak in a warm (as you can stand it) bath with lavender soap or bath salts in the water (lavender is known to cause drowsyness)...just before bed drink a warm cup of "Sleepy-time" tea (which of course does NOT contain caffeine and it's a blend of herbs with chamomile that promotes sleep)...it really works...

Nighty-nite...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
