My 6 yr ols child was vomiting on tues came home from school and was vomiting for the rest of the day and eveing, she slept through the night. During the day between vomiting, she was acting fine and had absoulty no other symptoms. SHe was her normal ornery self. She went to school the next day and was fine the entire day and night, ate lunch and dinner like normal. Now today I received a call from the school saying that she vomited again...........remember she has no other symptom, no fever, cough, runny nose, nor is she lethargic in any way, no diarehha. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?

I plan on calling her dr, today, but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas why this would be happening. especially the frequency of it, or the infrequnecy rather and the absence of any other symptoms.

You know what I think, but thanks for the points.

I told you people would get all holier that thou and judgemental. Most people probably didn't even read the whole question. She doesn't have an intestinal blockage as that would be EXTREMELY Painful. I'm sure the doctor is going to tell you she has a stomach virus or something.

OrianasMom is an idiot.

Intestinal blockages are not necessarily painful. Some times intermittent vomiting can be one of the symptoms. However, a few questions the pediatrician is going to ask you:

What is the child's bm consistency, color, amount, or is there blood present? How often does she go normally? When was the last time she had a bm? What does the diet consist of? How much fluid does she drink at one time, during the day? Is she voiding correctly? Is there a food that is connected to the vomiting? What does the emesis look like(undigested, color, consistency, amount, blood)? Has there been any recent trauma? Any stress the child might be going through? Is there any NAUSEA? Has she had this problem before? Is she dehydrated?

The problem is finding the cause which can be psychological or pathological because there are so many things that manifest a symptom of vomiting. This doesn't sound like an organism, it sounds more like she ingested something that may have upset her Gastrointestinal system. Remember to teach your daugher not to swap candy/gum with other kids and not to drink or eat after anyone.

well if she isn't showing any other symptoms, my first assumption would be stomach bug too but until you get an appt with your doctor I wouldnt stress too much as long as she's fine aside from this. and I wont be judgemental - i know how hard it is to get an appt! and if you brought your kid everytime she was sick you'd live in the waiting room! - just relax and try to give her soup or gingerale for lunch until it clears up. since it went away and came back, she may have developed a reflux problem, so don't rule it out. good luck!

It is probably a virus. last year my kids had the same type thing and it lasted on and off for like 10 days. it was awful just as soon as you thought they were better, they'd vomit again. i hope she feels better soon.

I don't know where you live but there's a stomach bug going around right now where I live. It's possible she has it but more mild than the other children.

If you're worried, call your pediatrician.

Sounds like an intestinal blockage. Get her to the doctor immediately. That can ba a surgical emergency.

Greetings!

At what point in time will you be willing to seek medical help? Certainly except for sympathy which perhaps you are looking for, you would not find any medical advice a sane person would use.
You should know that vomiting in a young child is serious.
Run do not walk to your family physician or emergency room.

Good Luck
