There's a little white dog I see regularly at the dog park that only has 3 legs. Yes they are unique, but most dogs would be called unique in some way by their owners.

Unique is defined as: existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics.

Since there are many other 3 legged dogs in the world I would have to say that your dog is NOT unique. He is different and special since he only has 3 legs but he is not the only 3-legged dog living.

I fostered a 3 legged cat. His name is Trike, as in tricycle. His previous owners got his leg caught in a recliner and didn't bother to take him to the vet. His leg got all infected and they brought him into the animal shelter where I volunteer. The owners signed him over, the shelter did surgery, I fostered him and then he was adopted by a family with a little girl that had HER leg amputated. They were obviously meant to find each other.

Kudos to you for having a special animal!

Yeah I've known a three legged dog .His name was Jake and had lost his left rear leg because of a run in with a car.The owner was a hotel owner and old Jake sure did love the attention from many of their customers and many frequented the hotel just to see a three legged dog.Sadly Jake died some years ago of old age but still had a great life even though he had only three legs.I'm sure what you have is as unique as old Jake.

No more than anyone elses dog. Personality is what makes a dog unique not the number of legs it has.

Each dog is unique in it's own way, but there are many animals that have only 3 legs.

Every dog is unique. But most dogs have three legs. Some even have four.

He is not unique for having three legs, as this is not unheard of, but he is your pup, and that makes him special. Just because we have dark hair doesn't mean we are identical, we aren't the same at all. Tell your dog my dogs said 'hi'!

It's not exactly common but your dog is not the only one. Occasionally, dogs are born with birth defects or have accidents or medical issues that result in them having only three legs. Dogs seem to adapt pretty quickly and can do well with only three legs.

Your dog is unique because you are his owner. Any way people put it every one has a unique dog one way or another. Who is really to say someones dog is unique.
