The war on drugs is an unconcionable waste of resources. Legalizing all drugs would allow police to worry about violent criminals (rapists and murders). Not to mention, because the drugs would be legal, people wouldn't have to join the criminal underground to obtain them. No criminal underground controling manufacture and distribution means that violent crime would drop drastically as well.

Think about it, when was the last time someone got shot up for putting Coors in a display next to Budweiser? Uhm, how about the 12'th of the Never.

Nobody is arguing wheter or not drugs are good for you. Of course they aren't. But there's a lot of things in life we do that aren't good for us or are dangerous. That's not a good enough reason to outlaw something and force a criminal organization to run it.

Just remember this, while drugs are fairly bad for you, the hyper-inflated profit margins created by their illegal status is FAR worse to society as a whole. When in doubt, always take the lesser of two evils. If we legalize the activity, it allows the activity to be controled, monitored, and taxed allowing us to treat the more serious addicts with solutions that work!

Also, not every user is an addict nor does every user become an addict. There are millions and millions of fully functioning adults in society that like a little buzz after work. Just like with alcohol.

this question could have been a stable question in case you left the section approximately homicide out. Commone sense inform you that murderers would desire to be punished. Now the marijuana is yet another concept--i in my opinion, do not smoke. yet i think of it is a selection of the guy--you're actually not hurting anybody once you smoke and locking somebody up for it quite is ridiculous. I comprehend it impairs your judgenment yet so does ingesting alcohol yet ingesting is criminal and the only time you bypass to reformatory is that in case you stupid some thing stupid mutually as under the impact. i think of that would desire to be a similar regulation for marijuana--if your intense motives you to commit a criminal offense then you definately bypass to reformatory. in spite of the undeniable fact that it being unlawful "only because of the fact" is only stupid. Make the plant criminal--in the jails, much less human beings.

Most people around here get arrested for pills (morphine, lortab,& every kind you can break down and use IV), crack & meth. My brother-in-law & son-in-law are cops and their job is very dangerous and drugs lead to other crimes, robbing, prostitution, murder, burglery & people who prey on children. Since marijuana destroys brain cells that can not be replaced most pot smokers who have smoked for years are, if you have ever noticed, dumb dingbats that are unemployable. I love the people that will risk their life to put themselves between someone hurting me and themselves. These people should get more money and be applauded by their communities. I am sure you would not understand this due to lost brain cells.

How bout we use them to do what they are actually supposed to do - prevent crime? Long Beach CA is supposed to be "ghetto" yet the FBI statistics show that there are significantly more violent crimes, forcible rapes, and murders and homicides in Sacramento CA, even though Sacramento is a bit smaller than Long Beach.

Do you have any idea how many dollars the Government would make off of marijuana cigerettes if they were made legal ? The Gov't would make millions if not billions a year .. it would solve our deficit problems not to mention Social Security. The Police could then concentrate on more important crimes. Good Luck ! :)

If 50% of your arrests are for marijuana, what are you being arrested for the other 50%?

Maybe you should pursue a different life style.

no. legalization will allow law enforcement to focus on actually making a difference in the war on drugs (coke, crack, H, Acid, etc). just like if we left Iraq and went to Saudi Arabia we could make real progress in the war on terror.

where did you get that statistic? It doesn't sound right.

plus- they wouldn't fire the police, they'd put them on policing the roads and passing out speeding tickets. So- be careful what you wish for.

Did you just make that up? The unemployable are the useless, lazy, non-ambitious cannabis heads. They can wax my Explorer when they get out of jail.
