If you had shingles, what drugs were you on.
Doc gave me Valtrex and I asked for pain relief too.

To those asking why I asked, please be smart enough to re-read the question and statement.
I have a pill for the virus, but want to know which pain killer is best for the symptom of severe pain.

To the person who called me a moron, re-read the statement. I went to the doctor....I was looking for feed back on the med he gave me and searching for ideas on pain help.

Ask your doctor if you can use Lidocaine Patches. They work well for pain. You wear them 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Good luck.

Drinking beer helped me. So I would say whatever alcohol drink you are comfortable with could help. None of the pain drugs my Dr. gave me would help, even though I asked for new stronger ones; shingles is pretty bad, but a few beers did wonders.
Valtrex cured my shingles in a month but I had to ask for a second dose as I got shingles back after a week after taking the first weekly dose of Valtrex. My Dr. hesitated but I just told him to prescribe it a second time and sure enought, I was totally healed. My best to you.

i was too young for anything stronger than advil, but i took three of those and then some cold medicine to knock me out at night so i could sleep
