I was planning a fall wedding and thought about doing a "candy bar" instead of individual favors. I want to use halloween type candy from my past...mary janes, m&ms, caramels, good n' plentys, candy corn, chocolate covered pretzels...etc. i was thinking about keeping with the vintage candy theme...what would be some types of candy i could use?

If you go to the M&M sight, they offer services, where you not only personalize your M&M's, but you choose the colors/assortments yourself. Be sure to add some of these to your Buffet- I plan Candy Buffet's for a living and these are a must have.
Another good choice is Rock Candy- if you make it yourself, or special order it, you can get many different colors.
Ther's also candy corn and candy corn type candy that's shaped like pumkins, corn etc. also good for fall.
BUT-
you may also want to consider not going too haywire with the buffet and adding carmel and candy covered apples at each seat- they look beautiful, taste delicious and everyone loves them!

I think this is a great idea. You can use any candy you want. Just go to the store. Just be sure to get the candy that is individually wrapped. I hope that this works out for you. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You could use Jelly beans.

What about the Necco Candy Wafers? They have been around forever. Lets see... Sixlets Chocolate Candy, I loved these as a child. Some others I can think of ... Junior Mints, Charleston Chew, Hershey's Bar, DOTS how did I forget about them, & Reese's Penut Butter Cups. I really love your idea! I hope it works well for you. Good luck and best wishes!

One suggestion first, make sure that the candy is individually wrapped. You don't want germs and bacteria spreading at your wedding. If someone sneezes near the bar, do you really want that all over loose candy?

Some candy links for candy from the past, you don't have to buy from them, but they may give you some more great things to add to your very unique (and cute) idea.

You could also get the wax teeth, nails and lips. Remember the little "wax bottle" filled with liquid? We have a bulk candy store at the mall that sells all different types of candy.

Last year, my wife and I got married (September 17), and what we did was go down to the local Japanese grocery store and bought an assload of Japanese candy. Japan makes the best candy, and the packaging is a lot of fun. Think about it, your guests will enjoy them.

those red "coins", pixie stix, orange slices, sugar daddy's!, black cows, licorice sticks and ropes, sugar ice cream cone things, those pastel dots that are attached long lengths of paper, wax teeth, wax mustashes, taffy, gumballs, lemon heads, blackjacks, round caramel candy with white stuff in the middle.
Thanks for asking this question it brought back sweet memories!! Sounds like a fun, fun wedding! Best of luck to you!

Sounds great. What about lemon drops and gum drops too.

It sounds pretty expensive, though.

Be sure to provide and appropriate container so people can put their favor together.
