Its a cop OUT~ They can't keep it real~ Or maybe they want a cheap way out. meaning they found someone else or they may be tired of the relationship but is afraid to tell you that, or they may feel that way cause they do not want to hurt your feelings. Me personally say freak all of that and spit the business. If its her/him then shoot roll on cause there are plenty of men and woman out there for the both of you. No need to make it long. I haven't really had it used on me to my recolection but I do recall actuially using it. I told him "It's not you it's me i'm not ready to be in a relationship". I did it because it was nicer than saying "You are annoying. I can't stand being around you for more than 20 minutes without wanting to kill myself. You are self cendered, a bad dresser, rude, i'm embarassed to be seen with you. You're ugly, you stink and you have a small penis." Now don't you think it's not you it's me sounds better?!?! lol:)

I've never said, "it's not you, it's me," but I've said things in that vein. Like, instead of, "I think you're FAR too clingy," I've said, "I don't think I'm warm--emotionally--enough for you."

Sometimes you do things like that because you know it's going to hurt the person that they no longer have you and you don't want them crying over additional things too.

They use that piece of sh!t line to assure you that you are not the reason for the break-up. However, we all know that it is the most pathetic cop out line ever. If you hear that sh!t, you should be done with that person.

sometimes, we say that so as not to make the break up so painful... when we try to break the news gently, and leave the dignity of the person intact. that , what i call is tact.

They may be trying to avoid hurting your feelings... but I personally feel that if you see that it is "blatently you" then why didn't you call it off? Is it not more mature to say, "I don't feel this relationship is working out."?

George Costanza used that line on Seinfeld and then a gf tried to use it on him and he got upset and told her he invented it!
