Immigrants are quite allowed to have their dreams and go about their lives.
As long as they are legal.
Over half a million people legally immigrated last year.
Its just the ones that choose to commit the crime of doign it illegally, that we have a problem with.

The point is missing here! They are allowed to come legally to the US. Rather the coming into the USA illegally is what the problem is. They should not be allowed to come in illegally, because they are braking the Law that governs the US Immigration Policy. With such a large exodus from the countries of South America there should be some changes made in the governments of their countries, in order that the people would not have to leave their families and homes to come to the USA illigally

Since most of us were immigrants at some point or another, there is very little concern over LEGAL immigration.
However, don't come over ILLEGALLY and expect anyone to get overly anxious about your dreams for a better life. We'd prefer you didn't end up making the ones who did the trip LEGALLY have to pay more in taxes, health insurance, and rent (and so on) to make up for the increased burden on the rest of us.
Do it the right way, or get out.

All countries establish immigration laws...some are more lenient than others. But all of them are designed to protect the country from having undesirable immigrants. What "undesirable" means is a matter of each country to decide.
My guess, although I admit I don't know, is that "undersirable" for Iran means non Muslim...period. For the U.S., it means terrorists and, in part, people who would drain rather than add to our economy.
In the U.S., very few undocumented immigrants file Federal income tax returns. Check this:
"Among both legal and illegal Mexican migrants, the likelihood of filing a tax return – and thus having any hope of receiving a refund – has fallen in recent years. Between 1997 and 2002, for instance, just 67 percent of legal immigrants and only 5 percent of undocumented migrants reported filing a federal tax return. .... " [See source 1.]
But this may be a plus if the undocumented immigrants were to qualify for refunds on their withholdings. But only about 60% or so actually earn wages wherein there are taxes withheld. [See source 1.] This means that 40% of the undocumented immigrants are earning wages that are not income taxed.
So, on the income side, undocumented immigrants are not filling our nation's coffers at the same rate the legal immigrants are. What about the cost side?
Turns out undocumented immigrants use food stamps and welfare payments at a low rate...about 4% according to:
"Among some 2,100 undocumented migrants surveyed by the project, for example, only 4 percent said they used food stamps on their last U.S. trip and just 3 percent said they received government welfare payments. " [See source 1.]
While that may seem low, it's close to twice the national average (2.4%), which includes all U.S. residents includiing legal and undocumented immigrants, and citizens. So the 2.4% is inflated by the undocumented immigrants using food stamps at a 4% rate. [See source 2.]
In other words, legal immigrants and citizens use food stamps at something less than 2.4%. This means, on the per capita cost side, undocumented immigrants at 4% take relatively more out of the nation's coffers than U.S. citizens and legal immigrants do.
There are other costs (uninsured healthcare, welfare, etc.) I have not addressed. Although Source 1 claims they are low, the author makes these claim out of context of the natiional average. But I suspect, like the food stamps, we will find the useage rate of these publically paid services will be higher for the undocumented immigrants than similar services for the citizens and legal immigrants.
So, rather than molested, I would rather see the undocumented immigrants documented following strict procedures to ensure they can contribute to our economy and to ensure they are not terrorists. If they refuse, then they should be deported...as illegals throughout the world are if they are not killed or jailed...no more, no less.

I feel they're just keeping circumstances under control. If all immigrants were allowed into this country, what would happen to all the low income people? There would be more bums on the streets raising their children in parks, forrest's, beaches, rooftops, etc. and the shelters as well as the churches would overflow. More crime due to less jobs would lead to more drugs, prostitution, deaths, and... you get the picture. All in the meanwhile, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I think everyone is entitled to pursue their dreams, as long as their dreams are legal.
If someone's dream is to sell drugs, that is illegal.
If someone's dream is to become a doctor, they need to do what is necessary to do that - apply to schools, pass their classes, get their medical license. It is illegal to skip the first steps, walk into a hospital and start operating.
That's all I ask - that they fill out their paperwork, take citizenship classes, pass their test and get their citizenship legally. Then they can follow their dreams!

I am an American Indian and proud of it, so everyone that wasn't here when my ancestors walked mother earth is an immigrant to me and my people. The main problem with them is coming her illegally. They don't pay taxes, they drain the welfare system, they get free health care, they don't vote, they take much needed jobs, etc, etc, etc. If they come here and register with the government and pay taxes and become ENGLISH speaking Americans I don't care where they are from.

i'm not a very non secular guy or woman, through fact the fact is laid out, then a god is an alien. think of roughly it. in the Monotheistic Religions of people, god is often up there or a voice, sounds alien to me. If a central authority helps one to believe in a god, additionally they enable the perception in extraterrestrial beings.

there is no problem if they want to come here legally; I'm all for people having dreams and working toward those goals - in a LEAGAL manner; by definition they are criminals if they come to the US illegally; I don't want criminals living in my neighborhood and I'm sure no reasonable, smart, honest, person would either!
