Just curious to know what I am doing to my body and one product I have been drinking claims to protect my DNA from free radical induced oxidative damage. So, I figured if I am doing something this good, then what is it exactly that I am being protected against?

free radical induced oxidative damage has been linked to cancer and aging.. normal body function creates oxidation.. but also when your body is hit with radiation (like from the sun) small chunks of DNA can be "broken" and the body comes threw and repairs them naturally.. you can either help protect your body from the damage initially (like sun screen) or you can help your body repair the damaged DNA.. I'm assuming your drink is helping your body to repair (or at least that's what it's claiming) .. another, more familiar way to say this is anti-oxidants.. the things you can get from tea and that sort of thing? same thing

free radicals are byproduct chemicals produced as a result of everyday life.....when you eat a meal your body breaks the food down into chemicals to be absorbed and utilized in your body. some free radical chemicals are produced durring that process as well as the process of your body using the good chemicals. free radical are a normal part of life but are actually one of the main reasons people die of natural causes. there was a study done with labmice and free radicals.....what they did is study 2 sets of mice...one they gave a normal portion of food to...the second group they gave half the ammount of food to. the mice that they gave less food to actually lived twice the lifespan of the normal mice with the regular food amount. why...because since they were ingesting less food...they were producing less free radicals and therefore lived much longer. if you really want to limit free radicals....just make sure you don't gorge yourself constantly.....cutting back your portions of food will have the same affect on a human as it does in lab mice. not telling you not to eat......just saying halfing the portion of your average meal will have a far better effext than drinking things like clam juice and green tea.
