Depression is an actual disease. As far as causing other diseases, there is a chance. When you are depressed, you're more likely stressed, which releases chemicals into your body that are clinical proven to cause diseases like heart burn, high blood pressure, anxiety, etc. I know this is easier said than done, but just BREATHE and take life as it comes. There are days when you feel like you can't go on, but just like a storm, there will always be a clear day of sun afterwards. That has helped me. SOMETHING good is bound to come along. You just have to go out there and get it. =)

It seems that most depressions are caused by damage of nerve ends in your brains and can only be cured with the proper medication. Take good notice of that and consult a specialist about what I just said, it is too important to let it ruin your life, especially when you are only 19.
A depression can cause other diseases because your bodily resistance is lower than normal, being too occupied with worries and thoughts. Chemicals are produced in your head which stimulate your negative feelings even more, it's nature who decides. Just consult the right doctors to help you over it and follow therapy if needed so that you can get it out of your system. Doing sports helps big time to regain your self-esteem.

Depression is a disease that can kill you directly or indirectly. You can talk to a doctor or counselor and they can help to properly diagnose it and treat it possibly with drugs. If its a mild case you just need to take some time and figure out why you are depressed, what makes you happy, what things do you like to do and fix it slowly by being around happy people and doing the things you like to do.
