definitely! try going to an asthma specialist, they are called immunologists/allergologists. i go to one. they will assess your condition, the severity and more importantly identifies your "triggers" - in other words what triggers your asthma or your son's asthma in this case, in order for you to avoid them; therefore, prevent asthma from recurring. anyway asthma attacks are often treated with albuterol inhalation aerosol or the "puff" because of its immediate effect. also, sometimes nebulization. and there are those preventive ones like advair, injections, etc.

go see an immunologist and i wish u all the best.

if asthma is severe enough to get prophylatic medicines then abortive should be prescribed too, just ask the doctor. treatment starts with abortive medicine, next step is preventative and abortive medicine, good luck

Ask this doctor first. Then go with your gut.
