i just moved into a new apt where they supply "free" cable. i pay for comcast (which has more channels). however, when i run the cable thru the vcr it chooses the apts cable instead of comcast. how do i get it to choose the other one?

i have to run the cable thru the vcr bc the input on the back of my big screen doesnt receive the signal.

Are you able to get a signal from comcast? DO you have 2 wires or one? If one, you may not have comcast (technician screwed up at the junction box and your neighbor is enjoying your movie channels). If you have two, I agree with the other answer - don't bother hooking up the free cable.

You can also request a cable box from comcast, and hook your VCR up to that, then go to the TV.

You are still using a VCR? It has two inputs? Did you try switching the inputs? Maybe it defaults to one or the other.
Why even hook up the 'free' cable at all, No hook up, no see
