I can't answer this question because I don't know what to compare myself to - the average or the ideal.
But I can assure you all, generosity is much easier when you have little to give, maybe because you can relate to the person in need better. The most generous people tend, in my experience, to be the most poor. When I have needed, my poor neighbors have pulled me through - while the middle class and wealthy folks looked on, maybe offered to pray for me, but didn't offer any help.
I may get a fat paycheck these days, but I hope I will always be like the poor.

It depends. I offer myself willingly for the most part. I absolutely _hate_ to be volunteered. Hate it!
I am a volunteer child advocate (CASA), I watch other people's children on a volunteer basis pretty often, that sort of thing. I do those things gladly.
But once someone just started bringing her child over because she was going back to work and assumed I'd be free child care. I didn't care for that so much.
I have a young man in one of my classes (I've gone back to college) who didn't have a textbook and I made him a copy of my study guide for an exam, just because I knew he needed one. Happy to do it. Now he has a text book and expects a copy of my study guide. Hmmmm.
Sometimes I'm hesitant if I'm not quite sure what the other person wants exactly, or if I've had a problem with them changing the deal midstream. I took an older lady from our congregation to the hospital for what she said was a routine visit that would take an hour or so, and when I got there they told me I was responsible for her for the rest of the day. Not quite what I signed up for. And the bad thing is that I would have gladly done it if she had been up front with me, but I guess she was afraid I wouldn't agree if I knew how much responsibility was involved. Since I thought it was a commitment of a couple of hours, I had other things planned for the day that were hard to reschedule from the hospital.
Man, this is a long answer! I guess my short answer is, "it depends....."
;o)

I'm very generous if it does not involve money I don't have. It seems most people think you're not generous if the majority of things you do are not things that you have to spend money to do though. I love helping or being kind. I don't like to see anyone sad or suffering, so that's mostly why I'm generous. I am hesitant only if I think the person will not want what I can offer.

I offer myself willingly and without question sometimes, so much so that the people I love tell me off because I moan about not having time for myself, they tell me I should learn to say no sometimes, but I cant, I do sometimes manage my time in fairness to myself, but more often than not I am always doing something for somebody else!

I used to offer myself willingly, but after being hurt several times, I am more hesitant. I offer what I can to people without putting myself out.

My time is my families time. I take up most of my day time to bring my mother and grandmother out to do errands, appointments, go shopping. i offer willingly most the time and hesitantly other times. I feel better to do for others than to do for myself anyday.

Yes i consiter my-self very generous. many of my friends come to me for advice, and i try my best to do every-thing my mom tells me to do. my dad died when i was 3, so i only have her. she took care of me and my sister all by herself, so noe that i have a good job, a try to get all my stuff that i need, b-4 i go home, cause after i get paied i give my mom my whole check. I always try to make sure she and my sister have what they need, and then my gilfriend comes next on the list, she no's that if my sister or mothe need something then they come 1st, but after we get marriwed i need to get the grip that i no-longer live under mommy's roof, so i might need to work on thet.

wow a complicated question
i do not know what to say, i guess i am generous but i give friendship. i can befriend any person in a single day and after that i can give them time, advise, and love if they need it. whatever a friend needs, i can give. sometimes i am limited to what i can give but i try to extend beyond that. it is hard, but i try to do the best i can.

With my time? Pretty darn generous. Not so much with money usually, but time's more important to offer, I think.
