I have never seen a program for a reception. I don't think many people do this.

Maybe have the reception information included as part of your wedding ceremony program.

I think it would be cute to print them on cream / silver / eggshell cardstock but format them so they would be "long and skinny" - probably 11" tall and maybe 4" wide. It's unique and you can get two per page.

Choose a scroll font that is pretty but not so ornate that you can't read it. A simple graphic in the top corner is all you need or if you have someone crafty around and some time, put a ribbon on the top.

I would include the timeline for:

cocktail hour
dinner
any special dances
speeches
bouquet / garter stuff
cake cutting
"last dance"

Specific times aren't necessary and I don't know of a single wedding reception that was ever on schedule. This will just give guests an idea what will happen when. Just make sure your caterer, emcee and DJ have the same schedule!

I would do it all on one page not like a program where you open it up make it a little more fancy then the ceremony. Then use your theme if you have a theme or similar to your programs at the church. What to include:

The DJ or band
the caterer
the photographer
Anybody who is helping out at the reception
Wedding Director - if you have one

appetizers / cocktails
prayer
dinner
1st dance
father/daughter dance
any other special dance
speeches
toast
cake cutting
Bouquet toss
garter toss
last dance

anything else that you are doing during the reception that I may not have mentioned. Talk with your wedding director about this if you have one.

Good luck and congrats! Have fun!

Theere can be any number of ways to create them. When I was married, the pastor for the church had old examples to look at. Since we were trying to do a medevil kind of theme, I made my own. They were only 1 page and only on the front, but the paper appeared as a scroll. I hade the parents listed 1st, since they would be seated first and I tried to keep everyone for the bride on the left side and everyone for me on the right. at the bottom, I had the itinerary for the events of the wedding and any Bible readings or guest speakers and what not. It came out perfect. I also had some clip art inserted in there. I'm sure the sasme could be used for a reception. Perhaps on the back of the wedding program?? As favors, my wife gave out bookmarks since she is a librarian. I'm a Geologist, but she wouldn't allow me to pass out rocks.

There must be web sites that answer this sort of thing. To be honest, most people will be too busy talking, eating, and drinking champagne, to read a reception program.

They are created much like church programs but on nicer paper I would add little cameras so they can take pictures of there favorite part of your day.

I don't recommend this....people will be too busy socailizing and drinking...they won't really care what order things go in!
