I don't know how old your kitten is. If he is under 6 weeks old, he probably should still be with his mom. If he's older than 6 weeks, maybe he has to get used to you.
One way I think you can comfort him is to pet him, get some toys for him.
I believe in time he will be OK.

How old is he? From the sounds of it, he was taken from his mother way too soon. 8 weeks is a MINIMUM now. Waiting until the kitten is 10-12 weeks old is even better. Some breeders won't place their kittens until they're 14 weeks old. This helps ensure a more secure kitten.

I know that sometimes this is impossible. Sometimes the kittens are abandoned or lost. It definitely sounds like your kitten is insecure. The only way to make him feel more secure is to continue showing him love and affection. Sucking on your ear and neck is him trying to nurse on you. To stop this, you could try offering him something else. A friend of mine has a cat that "nurses" on a stuffed animal that he's had since he was 6 weeks old. Your cat may never grow out of this, but you can keep him from doing it to you. If he wants your neck and earlobe over everything else, try putting something on that he won't like (tobasco sauce on those areas will deter him pretty quickly).

As for the crying, you're just going to have to deal with it. He'll slowly become more secure in your care and cut it out.

Good luck!

When I got my kitten from an animal shelter. It WAS too young to be away from it's mother. The shelter told me that they found his mother dead on the side of the road and decided to take her beautiful 4 young kittens. I took him knowing, he may not survive because I rather have him with me than in some shelter for his last days. They gave me a substitute formula to feed him. Anyway, he had the same exact problem. He wouldn't stop crying. It literally broke my heart because my mom died when I was young. So one night I just put him on a pillow beside me and he quieted down. It was like magic, kittens are still just like babies they just need cuddling. Hope this helps

relying on that is age you'll opt to feed it milk replacer each and every 2-3 hours, no longer once very last evening then no longer something. She is likely crying because she's hungry and misses that is mom. Wrap it up in a blanket and positioned a ticking clock below the blanket yet first FEED IT!! and talk to a vet because a specialist desires to take care of it if that is below 12 weeks.

It will take him some time to adjust to his new home. He is just feeling lonely at night when you are asleep. Try to keep him awake as long as you can in the evenings by playing with him and keeping him busy. That way he will be tired when you go to bed and hopefully just sleep with you. Another thing you may consider is getting a kennel to put him in at night. I had to do that with my cat because she kept waking me up really early in the morning. If you start putting them in a kennel when they are young, they get used to it and will go right in there. But I would try the first thing I said first and see if that works for you. Good luck.

I have rated Katrina's as a good answer and the others are good too.

Please consider that he might be HUNGRY. Little kittens need to have small meals four to five times a day (and night, like before you retire).

Dry food is not satisfying for a kitten as his natural diet is meat. Natural Balance makes a quality canned food and it doesn't have to be "kitten" food to be appropriate for the little guy.

See if a can of that before bedtime might make him feel like sleeping. He is, however, just a baby and this is typical kitten behavior which you will have to endure for quite a few months. Just like with human babies -- many of us have been there with fretful babies who need to be fed in the middle of the night.

Your kitten DOES miss his momma. He was probably taken away too soon.

Try putting a hot water bottle wrapped in terrycloth in his bed: That should give him the feeling of having a warm body to snuggle up with.

Many years ago, one of my cats got stranded up a tree. He was pretty traumatized when he got back down again, and he needed a lot of reassurance. He started trying to nurse my fingers. I let him until he knew everything was all right again, then I 'weaned' him.

Your kitten should stop crying soon. Just keep cuddling him when you can.

Good luck!

Get him a bunch of cat toys and a nice round kitty bed. Try putting the kitty bed on your bed and when he tries to suck your ear etc try petting him and putting him in his kitty bed. After a while he may adjust. Also put cat toys around the room he can bat if he is not tired.

He misses his mom, that’s why he is suckling your ear. He will stop one day but you have to establish dominance. This can be done by grabbing the back of his neck when he does something wrong, and make eye contact when you say no. Also rubbing his ears, and nose establishes dominance too.

If he pulls away when you try to rub his ears or nose… make him stay. You are the master not him… he is still young so you still have time… don’t give up, and don’t feel guilty. It has to be done.

Put a hot water bottle Or heating pad in her bed and a wind up clock. The tick tock will sound like a heart beat and hot water bottle will make her fill like her mommy is next to her
