i saw my best friends brother who is black get beaten up and sworne at racially by the police just last month and other people saw and heard them as well. there were three police cars there. we have always known that the police dont like blacks where i live. i dont understand why they still bully young black people especially. i hoped racialism would have gone, but how can it be allowed to go on with the police force in Britain?

Mr Rourkus - you have clearly been 'institutionalised' given your long years as a officer. My friend says you are probably a typical uncle tom - defending racist wrongs that you have never seen, because you want to think your organisation is corruption free - so justifying to yourself and everyone else your involvement in it. You are the hypocrite and you have no credibility in my eyes at all. Carry on pretending that those same people who smile to your face, have good things to say about you behind your back. Thats your business.
Why should I report what I saw to the police?. The person concerned has already had professional experienced legal advice. Perhaps you can share with us your great knowledge on how many complaints against the police actually suceed and how long they actually take to go through the court process, and what unsaid threats are used to discourage people from making complaints?
Your sense of 'self importance' is sickening.

This certainly is an interesting question. Mr Ruckus claims to be a cop with 11 years experience and uses play with words to hint about his ethnic origin. Asker, You must remember that this is the Internet and anyone can claim to be any one they want!!

Alf Garnetts reply is also kind of telling...lol he probably did time in the police force upholding the apartheid laws of south Africa 15 years ago lol.

I firmly believe that the police, in general, don't like blacks because they profile young blacks in a negative way from their training days. I say 'in general' because I don't believe that all police are hateful of blacks. If that were the case, there would be many more public cases of police racism that we would hear about.

The police are not, nor should they be immune from public criticism and scrutiny on the issue of racism. Its all to easy for people to march along and sheepishly agree that 'oh the Bobby's are good at heart really'. No public institution is going to engage itself in a dispassionate self analysis of it's own faults - that's why I like your question. It is good to debate these things, but there is no need for a debate to descend into name-calling etc. Just bear that in mind.

Wow you sound really mad,is it because your friend was beaten up or the Bullying that really bothers you.
I don't think "having a go"at Policemen/women on Q.A is going to solve anything, what you should do is take the details of the Officers that were there including their Car Registration details and then contact the Duty Inspector of the nearest Police Station and make a Formal complaint, he is Duty Bound to follow this up and he will report this to the PCA if an Offence has been committed.
The Police in general do not have a problem with Black People, and yes,all Police know whats said behind their backs its part of the job.
I hope you get this sorted soon.

The profile of the average criminal offender is male, under 26 years, of low educational attainment, unemployed, living in a poor urban area: both black and white. It is a sad fact that there is a much higher proportion of black males who fit this profile than amongst the total white population. This being the case then it is little wonder that the police pay special attention to this group. I reject that this situation has anything to do with a lack of inate ability on the part of black people but has to be a social question. Instead of criticising the police for having to deal with an impossible situation, attention should be focused to deal with the underlying circumstances which have created the problem in the first place. I would in no way want to make excuses for a police officer who might behave in the manner described nor pretend that it could never happen, but I reject it as being the 'norm' of police behaviour.

Because many people think like Surveyor. Media plays a big role in reporting incidents of black criminality disproportionately to criminality of other races. There is stereotyping and profiling involved. This is a global problem. Yes, there are black police, as someone else commented, but they are in the minority and many of them develop a "blue" attitude and have something to prove so they don't get involved or may act just as crudely. Overseer's syndrome.

The overwhelming majority of police officers carry on a difficult job with integrity. It is the bad apples that give them all a bad name.

The young man should press charges for brutality. Sorry this happened to him and you had to witness it. It is just another of the ills of our society.

I've been a cop for 11 years and in that time I have never witnessed what you state happened on this occasion.

To say in general terms that British Police don't like black people is offensive, stereotypical and predjudiced, which is the exact behaviour that you complain exists in the police. Hypocrite.

Racialism does not "go on" in the police.
There may be rare unacceptable occasions where the contrary is true and these should be reported to the police complaints authority. Who are neither police officers or racist.

What do you mean by "bully" when you refer to the police behaviour towards black people? In what way does it differ from the behaviour shown towards the rest of the youths in the community in the same circumstances?

When you read my response, did you assume the colour of my skin? I bet you did and I bet you were wrong.

Did you make a complaint about the officers conduct? If not perhaps this would be a more productive way to tackle the issues raised in your question.

Rubbish there are racist everywhere, and they need to be reported, so don't tar all the police with the same brush. Racialism is here I'm sorry to say for a long time, and will be all the time it's named as the cause of nearly every problem that comes up, and much to blame for it is the Political correctness rubbish, this has cause more problems than it has solved

Because there are some who think that they are above the law, and always play the race card whenever they get their collar felt (thankfully they are only a very tiny minority). Plus the police are stifled by political correctness and fear of being branded racist when a coloured person is arrested.

sorry but i don't think this is quite true,as i have seen the same happen to white yobs that have disturbed the peace, there are also many black policemen now,i really would hate to be in the police force now,as these days it must be very a very hard job,not like when i was younger when you had your friendly bobby on the beat, sadly times have changed for the worse, but they certainly don't hate black people

That is a sweeping generalisation which will be offensive to most on the Police Force. Interestingly you do not state any reason for their alleged actions so are we to assume they were just driving by and decided to go and beat up this poor black guy because of his colour? Even if they did have a reason I venture to suggest that this kind of incident is in the minority and would be dealt with appropriately by the relevant Authority if it came to their attention. I have experienced a few Police Forces and let me tell you the British Bobbies are the best in the World.

That is a very LEADING question. Do not let that small proportion of racism in the policeforce cloud your vision. There are far more non racist police than you are asking us to believe.
