If, which I think it is, the sentencing guidelines are the same in England as in Scotland then you are looking at a maximum sentence of 14 years. This would only ever be used in the most extreme of cases! So extreme that I could not even think of an example of what would be extreme. As in all cases you have aggravating circumstances and mitigating circumstances. An aggravater would be say the high value of goods or violence used during the burglary and a mitigator would be no previous convictions or the low value goods stolen.

Depends on a lot of things. Was it a house / factory / bank / etc ? How much did you steal ? Was anyone injured ? Do you have any convictions for similar ? What court the case is being heard in ( District / Sheriff / Sheriff & Jury or High Court ) What mood the Sheriff / Judge is in on the day of the trial. Sentences can be a monetary fine , a few days in prison or up to years dependant on the above
