I am so fed up with the way society has allowed total access to everyone. Why are individuals so important that they feel they have to have full life conversaions out loud in public on thier cell phones? Do we really need to discuss everything we talk about while driving through the neighborhoods where my children are playing? Is it necessary to take a call while others are watching a movie? Why do people feel it's teir right to act like this? Don't they see how rude it is? Maybe it's me? am I too sensitive? Should I say anything to them or let them go on being rude?

I understand your frustration, I do. However there are those of us that "need" our cell phones. I an a funeral director and it is very important that I be able to answer my phone anywhere incase someone passes away during non business hours. I do despise it when people are talking very loud in public places making everyone around them a part of their conversation wether they want to be or not. There are some people though that "need" their phones to get the job done and I understand and appreciate it when they are discreet about their phone usage and professional about it. I do not feel you are to sensitive but just be cautious if you approach someone because they may be on teh phone with their grandma who is terminal with cancer, talking to their son who just broke an arm in wrestling practice, a funeral director talking to a family who lost a loved one... but if they are inconsiderate people being loud planning parties, telling of sex with someone the nite before or just talking gossip loud for no reason other than to feel important... then please approach them:-)

What you may consider rude others may not. I don't think it's rude to have a conversation on your cell phone in a public place unless it's a rude topic. Though I can't stand those people who have a conversation on two way, very loud and then get annoyed when people are looking at them.

While talking on the phone while driving is illegal there is little that can be done to prevent people from doing it. Your best bet is defense. Drive defensively staying away from people who are talking on the phone wile driving and teach your kids to respect the roads and pay very close attention to their surroundings.

But, don't let the actions of other people stress you out so much.

I agree with you about how rude cell phone usage has become but I have to present another side to it as well. To many ppl, especially parents who give their children cell phones, they feel that it is an obligation for that person to answer the phone. I have many friends who are upset b/c I screen calls based on the situation I am in. They believe that cell phone means instant, 24/7 acess to that person. In the case of work cell phones, some ppl don't have much of a choice but to answer all incoming calls. The cell phone culture does have to change, I would personally tell ppl when they are being rude.

Cell phones are not the problem, people are. They are very useful to me, both for my professional life and my personal life. However driving and using a cell phone using a hands free kit is plain irresponsible. And not turning it off during a movie or a dinner with someone is just rude. You're entitled to be fed up.

What is the differrence about two people talking at a table at lunch, or in a car, walking together on the street while your kids are playing and doing it by themselves on a cell phone? In the theatre it is rude but in all the other cases I feel you are being selfish. There is no way you would go over to two people walking in your neighborhood and tell them to stop talking. Why do you feel you need to do this if a pewrson is walking and talking on a phone? Get over yourself. It's your world, we are just living in it.

If it's a place where you'd expect silence, sure it bothers me. But how is talking on a cell phone in public any more disruptive than 2 people carrying on a conversation in public. Is it any more dangerous than talking to a passenger in the car?

They think they are that important...they are totally self centered..that's the problem...BUT apparently there are cell phone blockers that will block any cell phone use (say within 15 feet of you)..they're illegal here..but I hear that you can get them in Japan...It's only a question of time...I'd order 1 today if I knew where to get it.

I would call it 50 50,half of those people need to get information right away and about half just want attention,it can be annoying, however, istant access to information is critical to some people.

Think of this: maybe they just have a serious case of obsessive impatience and can't wait 'til later for anything. Maybe you should do an intervention.

Of course, assault and battery are way more serious and hard to get off your record.

I agree with you comments. I hate it when people's lives revolve around their cell phones. It's very frustrating when u're in the middle of a movie and someone's cell phone rings and instead of shutting it off, they take the call....AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!
