My cat is about 2 1/2 years old. We've had her since she was three months. As of two weeks ago, she decided that she didn't want to use her litter box any more. She peed on my couch, she peed on the spare bed and she peed on the carpet in the spare bedroom. Her litter box is always kept clean and fresh and it's in a place that's easy for her to access but not the dogs, so I know the dogs aren't the issue. Does anyone have anything I can do to fix her? She's not overweight either if that makes a difference.

The little dog is new, but that's the one that the cat likes. We've had the big one for over six months and this new behavior just started recently.

Get her to the vet. Certain infections (of the bladder, for example) can cause pain while urinating. And if a cat feels pain while urinating, it will begin to avoid the litterbox because it associates it with the pain.

And a cat won't always show when they're sick.....they're very good at hiding it.

Is she ill? Usually refusing to use the litter box is one of the first symptoms. Also, has she been spayed? If not, take care of it: She may be trying to attract the attention of a tom.

Good luck!

She may have a urinary track infection. Our cat pounce was doing that and still does from time to time. We took her to the vet and they gave her an antibiotic. She told us to check the pet shops for the pill. Cats are pron to urinary infections.

I agree, she is looking for a soft place to go associating the litterbox with the pain. She may have a urinary infection.

She could have a bladder infection. That is the only logical reason. Taking her to the vet is the only answer.
I hope she gets better!
