They were not a true pair. Sounds like they were of the same sex fighting for terriory. Lovebirds don't kill after they mate. I breed lovebirds so I do know something about them. Maybe your cage is to small.... They might have been fighting over food. I am sorry for your loss. You do know that you don't need a pair of lovebirds. One lovebird makes a wonderful pet! They bond to you. You become the buddy. I do hope your next experience will be a better one...

This would desire to be 2 women human beings. I easily have 2 lovebirds, Lovey (mom chicken) and Melon (daughter chicken), and we had to chop up them into distinctive cages. in the event that they're scuffling with, get a cage the top comparable because of the fact the different, to be trouble-free, and positioned one in all them in there. Mine are separted in cages approximately two times the dimensions of youurs each and every and that they are happy. do not separate the cages nevertheless. positioned the cages touching eachother, they desire to 'communicate' to eachother and pay attention eachother's songs. it would be ultimate to get a male for each of them so they stay longer and happier. it is definatly not 2 men because of the fact they don't combat and are extra non violent than women human beings. i desire they stay long and happy lives.

once you noticed they were starting to fight,,it would have been a good idea to separate them then if you have an extra cage. most bird keepers keep an extra cage for that reason or to remove a sick bird......i have two lovebirds and i'm not planning to mate them nor the other birds i have....

This is almost always an issue with the birds hating their owners. They get so depressed and angry that they would even kill themselves
