Probably because women think more emotionally, while men think more logically. That's probably why there are more atheist men than women...

Pride is a main ingredient to the problem. Also, to be humble is difficult for macho men. Alot of men see Christian men as being a sissy and a wuss. When in fact, it takes a bigger man to be a Christian. Also, men work long hours and sometimes don't have the time to dedicated to studying the bible and going to classes to continue their spiritual walk with the Lord. Many women carry the home spiritually. However, the man is suppose to be the spiritual leader in the family. If the man is not leading, then the job is passed on to the woman. Football kept my husband from going to church many days....so needless to say, he wasn't being a good role model to my son. Alot of men think church people are hypocrites....they love to say that line. It gives them an excuse not to go to church. My dad and my husband always said that everyone was looking at them and judging them in church. I think they just felt guilty and defensive and insecure underneath. Also, my Dad and husband said that they felt like crying in church sometimes and didn't want to embarrass themselves by crying. Weird but real reasons. Needless to say, the men in my life did not have Christian role models in their family. Their fathers or uncles or brothers did /does not attend church or pray. (praying aloud is a fear also)

i think there can be a few reasons. 1. many voices in our culture have gone out of their way to portray Christianity as for the week and stupid. This doesn't wash well with those who see themselves as strong independent type. 2. Some of the churches I have went to have honestly bored my socks off. If you have had a bad experience you may tend to think they are all the same. Fortunately there are many differing churches with varying styles. Perhaps they need to be encouraged to go somewhere where they get something out of it.

Some men don't feel as if they need to and don't feel anything from the experience. My bf goes to church every Sunday. He's very spiritual and decent and he likes to go. I believe it makes you a kinder person. I am a different religion than he is but I will sometimes go with him just to share the experience and he will sometimes go with me to my place of worship.

Lots of men tend to rely more on themselves than on invisible beings with supernatural powers.
