Assalamu Alaikum, sister! Welcome to the religion and I hope you will find peace, INSHALLAH (God-willing)!

I would just like to tell you to be careful in picking a mentor, as there are many types of Muslims, some that mix their culture with religion and that may confuse you about what Islam is.

I urge you to go to your local mosque and tell the Imam there your situation. He will inshallah allow you to meet a nice sister who can be your mentor.

If you're having trouble finding a mosque, www.whyislam.org can actually set up a meeting with you and your local mosque's imam.

I would love to help answer questions. you should also get the book titled "Quran - as it explains itself" by Shabbir Ahmad. It has a beautiful translation of the Quran with historical references and desciptions in simple English.
