I don't have any details on deaths, wounded, and how many troops we have over there, but we're just dying because we don't want to give up the oil, are we not?

I don't know if I agree with you on the oil issue, we're still paying unbelievable amounts for gas. The government of Iraq that we have been pandering to for the last couple of years is by no means giving us any oil at a discounted rate.

As far as the troops issue I agree with you a hundred percent. I am a combat veteran of the first war over there and our men and women are getting MURDERED everyday. The war is over, at least this is what our president has told us time and again. Soldiers die in war or in combat situations. But being blown up by car bombs or IED's is plain murder. We are wasting our time over there and we are losing precious Americans everyday!

In short, no it's not about the oil, it's about a president who got us into a bad mess and has no clue on how to get us out. Let's all pray that our next president, republican or democrat, can get our country back on track.

The first reason why the US attacked Iraq and overthrew Saddamm was because Iraq was a threat to America's little brother, Israel.
The second reason is oil. I know that we get less then 5 percent of our oil from Iraq but the invasion of Iraq was not to get more oil from Iraq but to stop Iraq from producing oil. Because of the Iraqi war the production of oil in Iraq has dropped and that has an advantage for our president and his friend (the oil companies of America). When production deceases, price increases and profit increase.
The third reason, Bush is a bible addicted christian freak who has already called the aftermath of 9/11 a 'crusade'. Bush must be dreaming that he is the great christian crusader destroying Islam.
We Americans have to pay the price

no. the oil is not a factor- simply because the arabs can't eat the stuff. They have NOTHING except the oil, and therefore have to sell it. If the us doesnt buy the stuff from the arabs, it'll buy it from the russians, or the norvegians, or any other 50+ sources.
The coalition is there to make the place safe for normal people to live in.
Sure, some guys over there hate that, and some sickos will murder a girl for daring to wear a tank top, or have someone whipped 40 lashes because he is not wearing a beard (as if it had anything to do with religion).
All we need is time. They are fewer of them nowadays- proportionally to the amunition used...

You don't have any DETAILS ?? Pick up a newspaper, turn on CNN, go to a website or two... gather a mass of information and then filter it thru your feeble brain.

As stated by another responder, we barely get 5% of our oil from Iraq. So it's NOT the OIL STUPID... and if you BELIEVE it's the oil, sell your car, buy a bike (preferably made in USA), and don't fly anywhere.

Also, simply... people die in war and in peace. Iraq is one of the LEAST costly wars the US has ever been involved in regarding deaths vs time.

Freedom costs blood... we didn't end slavery by prayer and whining. We didn't stop German/Japanese aggression by hiding behind our borders and crying. We didn't stop the Soviets by protesting war and smoking hash. And Islamic Extremists won't be stopped by leaving Iraq.

I left a finger in the Gulf in 1987 (Iran), a toe and my hearing in 1991 (Iraq)... lucky me. I paid, and a light bill at that.

This war has been going on a lot longer than everyone thinks. Sometime since the first Bush was in office. The media makes stuff out to be so much worse than it is. They are making progress though, so dont think they are dying for nothing.

Hey Dip Why don't you check out this website and see where we get the majority of our oil from Iraq isn't even one of our top 5 oil purchases... Going by the statistics we would be more than fine with out even buying oil from Iraq... Maybe we buy from them just to show that we don't favor one country over another and to spread money to as many countries as possible...

It's not about "oil" or a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedom". It's really about THIS!...
