Yes i am a christian, just asking. Sometimes I wonder- it is a known fact years ago people used canibus (marijuana) and other
hallucinigenic drugs. Is it possible that some of the miracles that were written were imagined?

Peole don't be angry with me for wanting to know and not just believe because the bible says so. I am a God fearing woman but I am curiolus is that a sin.

Next for example would peole of ancient times believe that Katrina was an armaggedon. Not knowing that peole in other parts of the world survived. If peole in Louisiana had an inclination yo build boats because the storm was coming, is it a blessing or common sense.

FYI - Cannibus (marijuana) is not a hallucinogenic drug.

and anything is possible i guess, but if they "imagined" it or thought they saw it, they werent smoking pot...it had to be something else. mushrooms are hallucinogenic so maybe thats what they were on.

It is a possibility worth looking at it. So look at it. The miracles that were performed in the Bible were always performed before serveral witnesses (the healing of Peter's mother) and often before many, many people (the healing of the the lame man that was lowered through the roof). The miracle of the fish and loaves was performed before 1000's of people. Some of them may have been under the influence of an halucinogen but certainly it would have been a small percentage.

The purpose of miracles is confirm the authenticity of the person who was "delivering a message from God." See the account of Elijah and the prophets of Baal.

Of course many people today will say that the people in those times were not well educated and were ignorant. How strange that they woud say that since Aristotle, Plato and Socrates all preceded them. I guess they were ignorant, uneducated, easily fooled people as well!?!?!

It is not a bad idea to question things within the Bible or without. But don't be tricked by those who are just interested in dismissing the Bible because of their own ignorance and anger towards anything to do with God. They are cursed by the 9th Egyptian plague.

I hope this helpls.

It would have had to be some mass party. Remember that when Christ arose from the grave and appeared to the disciples, and walked on this earth for 40 days before His assencention to heaven, the rocks and (some) of the graves split assunder and many who were dead were seen by more then 500 people. Please read the New Testament of this account. How do I know? I believe the Word of God. What is the most that can happen to me if I am wrong? I harm no one, do not steal from anyone, take advantage of no one, so which would you rather be around? Someone like that or a liar and thief who you cannot trust. i am not putting you down, just trying to encourage you in your studies, and for you to know, Christians are like the way we are because we care about others, not to use them, but to edify them and to help them without false means. I belong to NO denomination, I follow Christ. There are no denominations in Heaven. We will all be Christians. (Christ-Man) No gender implied.

Cannabis is not an hallucinogen.

You are suggesting that Jesus' apostle John was martyred--that is, spent his whole life believing in Christ and then choosing death over denying his Savior--in defense of an hallucination he had? A reasonable man, a good man, a loving man, a literate man--would defend to his death his belief that Christ was the Son of God on account of some hallucinations he had?

Matthew--who also knew Jesus--was either martyred or murdered for his faith in Christ. Same thing, then: You believe it's possible that he dedicated his entire life spreading the word of ... hallucinations?

Do you know anything about pot heads? Do they generally give their lives for anything? Are they people dedicated to building churches and preaching the salvation of human souls through God's Son? Do they exhibit passion for much when they are not stoned? Do they generally give up everything they own to walk out in faith and serve the Lord?

What I say here doesn't prove anything. I am just suggesting that you think a little harder about these two particular men who wrote Gospels, who walked with Christ and spread news of him after his death.

there is a difference in using these type of drugs in a recreational manner and a Shamanistic manner. there are good and bad ways to use anything even regular tobacco. the only times I, personally smoke is in ceremony which happens only on occasion. but each mortal must decide for themselves certain answers to certain questions as long as they abide by the laws rules and mores of the culture and society to which they belong.

Well the native americans used Peyote in order to have their vision quests. I imagine since it grows naturally, God created it for a purpose...just not sure what the purpose was.

There was no weed in the middle-east. Burning stuff for personal enjoyment came from the indians. Before that there wasn't much drug use, atleast not to my knowledge.
