My Dr. put me on rosacea medication thinking that was the issue, but it seems it isn't. My skin burns, itches, and looks like poision ivy. . .not rosacea or acne. Can anyone recommend a cream to help get rid of this irritating situation?

Claritin has a new version of their OTC allergy medication specifically for hives.

It is a bit pricey as far as allergy meds go, but it doesn't cause sleepiness like the benadryl types do and why subject your body to hydrocortisones if you don't have to?

That's its name, Claritin for Hives. It is in a bright blue box.

Calamine lotion or hydrocortizone creams are good for most rashes. For temporary relief, put an ice pack on it. Also, have your doctor make sure it is not eczema, which can be difficult to treat as different treatments work for different people. If it is oozing, try a diaper rash cream. There are many rashes that need only to dry out to ease the itching and to heal. Diaper rash cream helps it dry out. Make sure it is the cream and not the ointment. The ointment can actually hold moisture in still.

Sounds like it may be eczema instead of rosacea. Eczema can be difficult to treat. Often it is caused, triggered, or aggravated by allergies so bendryl or claritin may help (needs to be taken daily until your rash clears). Make sure you moisturize after bathing. Apply cortisone cream topically to the rash. If it doesn't clear soon, you may want to go back to your doctor or get a second opinion.

Good Luck!!!

Benadryl pills or cream will help with hives and rashes due to allergic reactions. Don't use both at the same time. You coul dtry cream for day and pills at night(since they can make you drowsy).

if your rash is changing and not responding to medicines, see your doctor again, or consider a second opinion. once allergic reactions are detemined/confirmed then benadryl can be a good drug, may cause drowsiness though, if the allergy is severe then steroids are better. if the reaction is in a small area then calamine or caladryl are good lotions, good luck

First, go back to the doctor and tell him the medicaton is not working. There could be other choices.

Second, try putting Quaker Oats in a bowl and adding some water. With a clean cloth dab that liquid, not the oats, on the area and see if that works.

You really need to read "Rosacea Free Forever" by Laura Taylor (also available in electronic format here: http://www.rosaceafreeforever.info ). It's about how to permanently cure your Rosacea naturally. I cured my Rosacea permanently in only 4 days after reading this.

Stop paying paying each month good money on creams. This is exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to do! They want to milk money from you each month.

Any type of allergy medicine can help, benedryl, allegra, claritin, zyrtec, however, if it continues, get blood work done. Request it. An itchy skin can be a sign of something else. IE: Thyroid problems or other.
