Only 500 words? Man, you have it easy!

Why wear a seat belt? Because it will save your bacon, Junior! For the same reason you wear full gear on a motorcycle. It's not for the ride, it's for the crash! Dashboards and steering wheels are rather unforgiving to a soft human body, and though airbags help dissipate an impact a seat belt keeps your body from rattling around like a marble in a can.

I've always worn a seat belt, and it's just how being in a car should feel. Without one, something's just not right and I feel odd. I've been in two crashes while wearing my seat belt, and NOTHING happened to me. The people that get decapitated by a seat belt? That severe of a crash would have killed them anyway; it's not the seat belt's fault.

Performance driving or off roading requires a seat belt just to keep you in your seat. The forces of braking, acceleration and turning will throw you around enough to lose control of the vehicle if you're not strapped in. Anyone that's had their 4x4 at enough of an angle to reach out the window and touch the ground also understands how useful being held in is!

The whiners that say seat belts are uncomfortable or they don't need it are all just part of Darwin's theory.

Ok to help with your essay here's just a few ideas
In the back seat you should wear a belt not only for your own safety but for the safety of theose around and infront of you. If you fget into an accident you can go foreward breaking their neck in the process. Also if you are under 18 you can cause the driver a ticket for having your belt off in the back or front seat.
Also you don't want to hit the windshield or go through it. Seat belts keep you from being thrown out the car in a rollover.
um... if the car has to stop suddenly it keeps you from flying foreward.

This is from personal experience. Wear it so that you don't wrap your face around the steering wheel when you hit the ditch. Been there, done that, and the after effects have left me a face that isn't mine and a brain that is soooo totally screwed up I'll never work again. Good enuff reason???????

first of all it is now law that seatbelts be worn, recently a new law was passed in that anyone under 4foot 5 must also have a booster seat to raise the child to the adult level seatbelt,a seatbelt could save your life should you brake hard or be hit from behind, anything that is not strapped in is propelled in a forward motion hitting anything in front, better to have bruising than being killed

If you have to ask a question like this, you shouldn't wear a seat belt.....

Use common sense, if you get into an accident it saves your life. It locks and holds you in your place so that your head or chest will not slam into whatever may be in front of you (e.g. another seat, an airbag, a steering wheel) they really do help alot.

In addition to keeping you from being thrown from the vehicle or tossed around inside, they keep you in place in the driver's seat so that you can perhaps regain control.

innertia, an object in motion stays in motion, the car hits something the car stops, but you keep moving if you are not restrained, you will fly through the window and be ejected from the car. then you could be hit by another car driving by, etc.

Seatbelts save lives.

it would have saved the life of this girl i know if she had it on but she didn't and was thrown from the car.

it holds you back from flying forward and being seriously injured.

but a friend of my brother is alive becuase he didn't wear his. so they both have advantages and disadvatanges
