I have been dating a guy, who I think is awesome for awhile....
Things are going really well. We met through his sister, so I know the family, and hang out with them regularly. It's been great! I have had awesome conversations with this guy about life, and goals, and even marriage and kids. (the stuff you normally avoid talking about because it freaks everyone out!!!) We seem compatable on almost everything, and hold deep respect for eachother's differences.
The thing is, he is finishing his last bit of school right now, and will only be home every other weekend.(I can visit some weekends in between) Then, he will be going directly into the Army, applying as an officer-- not enlisting, but as a career choice.
I will be finishing my master's degree while he is on tour. So, my question is, considering the long distance, could this work?
I know we both are dating to find out if we are right for marriage, but how could we know with the distance involved?

distance is always a problem don't in between lovers but also for married couple
how old are u
jow long have u know this guy
how well do u really knew him
ask yourself thid question b4 u make any decision
but time will prove everything
if ur looking foward to this relationship
go ahead
u have to find a way to keep it but it is not easy as ur far away from him in his college there is a lot of girl that might tackle him
so u must jeep an eye on him bur most of the time if a man want to cheat on u they are very good in keeping this kind of things
are u sure u can't be tempted if there is other guys come and tackle u
what would u do

Yes it could work. If both of you are self confident and secure people a long distance romance will work. This will be a great test for you. If you marry into the military due to deployment schedules and god help you positions in war zones you may end up living apart for months at a time even if your married with children. The military has a strong support system of spouses who are there for each other when there husband/wife has been deployed. Being married to someone in the military isn't always easy, but there can be alot of benefits both financially and emotionally. I wish you luck and please give it a shot. There is nothing worse then wondering what if.

I am in the military and have been for 19 years... and have been married for almost 12 years... let me forewarn you... the divorce rate in the military is about 75%... you know he will be deployed, and for long periods of time... so if you think seeing him every other weekend is tough you've got a rude awakening...However; it sounds like you will have a strong family support group to help you through the tough times. It is totally possible I am living proof. Be strong and supportive and he needs to be the same. You sound like a great couple and I hope everything works out for the best. Yes It can work.

This is exactly the best time for you two to commit yourselves completely.
Since you two have been together for a while, maybe more than an year...(when you say dating, I'm guessing you two are in relationships, right?) you must say that you feel very strong for him, and seriously want to think about the future with him.
Tell him if he wants to continue the relationship even if you two go in distance, and if you two can trust yourselves and try very hard to make contacts every day...etc.
Distance is very tricky. But honestly, love always find its way. You can meet him time to time, and realize how much you love him. Assure your self that he is the most important person for you, and vise versa.
Good luck, don't give up!

it depends on how long he will be gone and how long before you can settle down and have family, etc. but if it's like life-long...forget it. long distance adult relationship will NOT work. =]
