This is a good question, because it is not always easy to do both. I have always thought that it was the journey that was more important than the end prize. If I had to compromise my beliefs or morals, or play the game according to the rules of the wicked, I would take another route. Now, I am trying to listen to what God wants for me, or from me. If I had started listening many years ago, I may have approached things differently, meaning I would have had the wisdom not to put myself in compromising positions in the first place.
I believe that "contentedness" is something within oneself. I used to think it could change, or fluctuate, but only circumstances do. I have learned, for instance, that while my financial state has fluctuated, or even job status- I am content with myself, and thankful for my blessings. So, every good thing really means something. For most of my adult life, but not all, I have found contentment in a stable home life. When you don't grow up with it, it is very precious to you.

Content, absolutely. But only by choice. If you had asked the question, "Do you feel content with your life?", my answer would be different. I don't always feel content.

You submitted this question to the 'Religion and Spirituality' section. In spiritual terms, the only way to being truly content is by being thankful for what you have, what you are, where you are and where you are going. It's an awareness that you are blessed and have no need for anything that what you have already. If you are able to be thankful for those things, then you are truly content.

That doesn't mean you always FEEL content. You may see rich people spending a lot of money on nice things, things that would be nice to have. You may be shopping in a store and see something you wouldn't mind having. You may make personal sacrifices for others that are by no means small sacrifices and FEEL like you are not content. This is by all means human and natural. The difference between being content and not content is whether or not you are thankful or not.

If you are bitter or angry, it's hard to be thankful and therefore impossible to be content. But if you enjoy life, still want more of it but thankful for what you have, you are content.

I have three boys and a pregnant wife. I have all I need. There is still much that I would like and I work toward. I believe I am on the right path in many ways but I keep examining my options. Today is our anniversary. I am very content.

No I am not content, and how can i explain to someone who is CONSTANTLY "trying" to aspire to greater ideals, but can't maintain a productive, acceptable life that it is important to do so.

I think being content is relative It also depends on your age and stage in life .I am content, but I have slightly changed my priorities .The goals I had when I was in my early twenties have not been achieved .That was all about carreer . Now I am content with home and developing my inner personality. There is no time limit and I am happy. Doing our best in any situation and being true to our morals should be the main goal in life. You would not be happy and contended if you have done something unworthy to achieve your goals. Would you?

Yes. What a turn around for me. For most of my life I was fearful and confused. About ten years ago I began going to a church that is a very good bible teaching church. I got into bible study. It still amazes me, when I look around, how the Lord transformed by life. My life is now full of assurance, joy, confidence, I want for nothing. It's like I live in a garden. Even when troubles come my way, Jesus is right there with me, I know I will get through anything. I am very grateful for all He has done for me.

Absolutely. Very much so. I am working on a Master's degree at the moment. I am also striving to become a better witch and pagan. I am content in my knowledge thus far of my subject and am content with my deities and life in general.

I am reasonably content. I feel lucky to be alive and well for the most part. A few problems aren't going to ruffle me.

i am content with my life. i have parents who love me and love each other, a boyfriend who appreciates and loves me, i am studying in one of the best university in my country. basically i should have satisfied with what i have. but i think if i am financially stable, marry my boyfriend and have long-lasting, loving marriage like my parents', have a good career, have 4 adorable kids and several cats...then thats my ideal life.

theres no explaination to this. its nature for human to strive something better in their life.

It's a matter of not making some goal the focal point, but enjoying the journey as well. Celebrate the smallest things just as much as the biggest things.

Content is the perfect word to describe my life. I am at a place that pleases me. I am comfortable to be me. All is not perfect, but it never will be. I guess.
