Girl I just quite on 9/19/06 and I have 2 very active girls that sometimes even when I was smoking that got on my nerves but I told them that I wanted to stop and mommy we be in a bad mood for a couple of days and they were so please to heard me tell them that I was stopping that they kept my mind on other things. My girl are 10 & 11 so I know if you explain to your kids what will happen and how you well feel and for them to support you can do it. I know it'll be hard for the first week but I feel so good and can do some much more with my girls that I feel great. keep your mind on something else and keep mint candys around and when you feel that you need a cig. eat you a candy or gum. BEST OF LUCK YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do some aromatherapy. Get yourself some good essential oils that are right for you. Do other things that are relaxing and relieve stress and calming for you personally. I too quit cold turkey. March 31, 2005. That's the day I found out I was pregnant, that's the day I quit smoking. What made it even worse was I craved them twice as much during my pregnancy. It is hard but definitely worth it! I haven't had a cigarette since. You can do this and remind yourself every time you want one why you decided to quit in the first place. You are a mother so determination and strength are already with you. Take care and good luck!

You might also want to remind the children that you may have setbacks. Try to explain how hard the quitting will be. When I quit I was nannying for a family with a 9 yar old and 7 year old twins. When I explained it to them, I told them to imagine that they had to give up food forever and that no matter where it was that they went, every second person was eating an ice cream cone (or whatever their favourite food is) because to me that's how it felt to me was that every other person was smoking no matter where I was. Also that ice cream is available at every corner store. Good luck and I hope you make it!

*A stress ball and a truckload of gum really helped too*

Yes you will be a bit moody, but you should not snap at your children. When you get upset step back and breath for about ten minutes. Also try a replacement for the cigarettes, cinnamon tooth picks help, for some reason the cinnamon is calming and you still have something to put in your mouth. My dad quit using certs. There is something smoking that it is an oral fixation, so anything you enjoy that you can put in your mouth will help, such as candy canes, gum, certs, tooth picks,, etc. Also this way there will be no weight gain that comes with trying to quit because for "some reason" smokers trying to quit tend to eat more and gain weight.

Everyone else stop thinking dirty I am trying to help and be honest.

Yeah, chill out. Yelling at your kids over your problem is stupid. Let them be happy kids. When a parent flips out it damages the fragile mind of a child. So put an H on your chest and handle it. By being agressive towards your children will cause them to be and grow to follow your representation. I quit smoking because its gross and smells terrible. This was years ago. I had no problems it is all in your own head. So learn to control your head and your emotions. My grandma used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all.

Chocolate! :) Hot chocolate. Watch the caffeine. Drink a lot of water. Go on a loooooong walk. Try to be by yourself when you can. :) Good luck and God bless...
