I'm in the Army, which is not made up of a bunch of zombies who do anything their told, but rather, normal Americans just trying to do a job. And I'm pretty sure that we would not support a coup.

Scary thought! Who is to say it won't happen once Bush's term comes to an end...
Support it - NO! On the other hand, what chance do we have to stand up against the world's most powerful military?
Our only hope is that the military would honor the constitution and side with the common people, overthrow Bush and his cabinet, and re-establish a true democratic society, where the electoral process is honored and those who cheat, lie, and betray the Constitution are put to death as traitors.

How would tens of millions of patriotic gun-owners be dealt with in such a scenario?
Tyranny is possible only when the subjects are disarmed.

The president is the only one that can issue an executive order, and he is already in charge. If he tried to do what you say that would immediately get his *** thrown out under the 25th ammendment, since it is obvious he is impaired from doing his job properly.

sigh......you do know the military is made up of your friends, relatives, neighbors and the like. We also have the 2nd Amendment which makes an action like this impossible. I think our 300 million strong militia will beat any military. So you can relax for awhile.

The executive branch doesn't have the authority to do that. It can't suspend the constitution because presidential authority over the military comes FROM the constitution.
You're being silly.

Not only would I not support such an action, I would lead those that I have prepared for that contingency in battle against anyone who tried. We're more than ready....so let them try....it will cost them far more than they could ever imagine.....

I'd support it for selective cities:
San Francisco
New York
Seattle
Boston
Los Angeles
and the usual college town suspects:
Boulder
Ann Arbor
Austin
Berkeley
Boston (again!)
Madison
and a few hundred more.
