Addiction varies by person. If you take the medication because you want to continue the "high" rather than to alleviate pain, think you maybe on the road to addiction.

If you stop the medication and you become ill, e.g., shake, hallucinations, vomit, then get to a hospital for professional detox for you probably have become addicted.

If you are taking the medication more often than prescribed or you have to go from doctor to doctor for more medication, you probably are addicted.

Medication should only be taken as directed and not for months or weeks on end except when prescribed by a physician and physical pain continues.

There is no shame in addicition only in not seeking professional help to remove the addicition. THINK

oxycontin is a narcotic pain medication. Addiction usually results in the person requiring ever increasing doses to achieve the desired results. This can be especially dangerous as the higher dosages cause liver and kidney damage over time and will eventually kill you.
