Keep taking ibuprofin every 4 hours. Don't let it get out of your system so that the pain can "catch up" with you.
Stick to eating soft foods as well. I made a lot of milkshakes when mine were in.

This is the worst part of having braces. Try and remember that they will only be in for a short amount of time (easier said than done - I know.)

Don't worry, spacers will stop hurting after a while. But, if it still hurts, you might want to go back to your orthodontist again. Braces don't hurt, but they were annoying for me the first day I got them. When I started eating the first day (I ate solids the second I got out of the office, I was hungry), I had a weird feeling when I chewed, but that is obviously because there is something in your mouth. After that, I sometimes even forget I have braces on =P.

I feel your pain I had spacers put in like a week ago and they hurt. I would suggest meds but honestly if they hurt then they're working. I wish there was something more to help but if your moving teeth you'd think it would hurt a little. OH also try really soft foods (an excuse to eat ice cream!!)

I am so sorry that you are about to go through with braces. Hate to say it, but (if you're like me) whenever you get your braces tightened, you will be begging for the level of pain of your spacers( I couldn't even eat yoghurt because the spoon hit my teeth when i got mine tightened)

ahhh i had 10 spacers at once. and the only way to really get them to stop hurting is tylenol. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BITE DOWN TOO HARD! they go into your gum and ouch...that hurts. really bad. especially when the orthodontist has to pry it out...

stick to soft foods. soup and mashed potatoes are good. remember-it won't last forever!!!! :)

A good combo that works for me is: taking 2 excedrin with a whole glass of water and then a half hour later taking a ibuprofen with another glass of water. It works and allievates pain pretty fast.

i use to have a spacer! it streched out my paladar like crazy.
and i hate when i had to twist it..the pain shall be over soon!
i use to take pain killers like tynenol or advil..try eating soft things..like yogurt..pasta..bread..anything thats not hard to chew.

Try taking what you take for a headache that should relieve your pain some.

It's called A DENTIST/ORTHODONTIST. Good grief girl, call your provider and ask for something for pain.
