Going out on the town is definitely not a good way to meet a bloke - not since teenage years anyway. Seeing your potential boyfriend slobbering drunkenly at the bar whilst spilling his pint, messing around with his friends and eyeing up any bit of flesh that walks by, is not good for building a relationship! Fortunately, there are lots of alternatives to going out on the pull. Why don't you ask your friends to set you up with some of their male friends or work colleagues? That way you've got a bit of inside info on them before hand! Or try going on an Internet dating site to find people in your area. Join a club or start a college course or join a gym. My gyms great because they also arrange social events. Why don't you take a friend a log to a speed dating night for fun? There are also some sites on the net that organise events for single people so have a look at those.

I had the same problem about a year ago split up with a long time boyfriend. Went out on the town alot and spent alot of time drunk which is never the best time to meet a new man. Then i started to think i couldnt be bothered if a man wanted me he'd come find me. Went to a New Years party at a friends i was really not in the mood to be my usual self sat down next to man id new of but didn't no well and now were together and happier than i've ever been. So the moral is stop looking so hard and go to places you wouldn't normally go i don't mean bingo with your mam or grandma i mean places and friends youve not really bonded with start taking invitations you wouldnt normally never know who you'll bump into. Tell yourself you don't need a man it would just be nice to have one.

I see nothing wrong with internet chat rooms, I met my partner of 3 and a half years on yahoo & I even have a nearly 1 year old daughter to her, but I was safe & ensured her safety to, by asking her to take a friend if she didn't feel comfortable, as you can never be too careful, maybe this could be the way forward for you to :-)

Join your local Rugby Club as a social member (it's a bit like joining an instant family), I did this when I came to Glasgow from London a few years ago. I met new friends of all ages & sexes within weeks and subsequently met fit, intelligent, rugby men & more to the point boyfriends !
